We had a spooky twist to our lunchtime today as we went all Halloween themed,

Served a variety of ways to ensure it meets everyone’s dietary needs - today we served up
🩸👀severed bloody eyeballs!👀🩸
Otherwise known as spaghetti and meatballs with mozzarella pearls and pitted black olives.

Our tables were set and our painted pumpkins were used as our centrepieces.

A huge congratulations to this months Team Member of the month - Gokul.

Gokul is a valued member of the staff team here at St Mary’s, his empathy, compassion and patience are second to none and since taking on his promotion to senior carer he has continued to shine, leading by example in everything he does.

🎃Tuesdays Stay and Play at St Mary’s 🎃

What’s not to love ❤️ about a Tuesday morning at St Mary’s - we have our Friend in Deed Stay and Play every week at 10.30am.
Take a look at some of these heartwarming moments that we’ve captured the last few weeks.

The benefits of these intergenerational sessions are endless and it’s beautiful to see the friendships that are made between the young and old. Our residents say it’s their favourite day of the week, would you like to join us??

What an amazing morning a couple of our residents have had at SaxonAir this morning, as they were invited to attend a tour of the hangar and discussion on all things aviation by the company’s CEO Alex, followed by refreshments and activities in their private lounge area. We were able to get up close to many different types of planes and helicopters with new friends that we made from Taverham Junior School and other homes including 2 of our sister Kingsley Healthcare homes.

There was a 1950’s French military aircraft used for reconnaissance, a fully electric glider plane which we learnt had 2 batteries weighing around 80kg each and gave roughly 1 hours flight time and what we found particularly interesting was the fact that the wings could be unclipped to allow for easier transportation should it be needed 😲,

It was extremely interesting and we learnt a lot, our residents shared interesting memories of times when a planes front rotor would be span by hand to get them started and another resident shared that their husband was an airman.

We feel so grateful to have been given such a wonderful opportunity by the lovely Kelly from the charity Friend in Deed who organised it for us - Thankyou!

And an extra shout out to Freedom Transport Services for getting us there and back comfortably and on time.

A wonderful afternoon of music from a visiting pianist got us all in the musical mood this afternoon- Violet is 102 and the memories and words came flooding back as she sang along to this throwback classic!

August/ September stars are the activities duo and Megha 🥰
The activities team work super hard to give our residents person centered support and activities. Lauren has worked super hard over the last few months to put together the summer fete, parties and is always forward thinking when it comes to new ideas for both residents and families to enjoy.

Megha is one of our many star carers giving a helping hand no matter how small or big. Residents always look their best when providing personal care and is fun to have in the team!

We are super proud of our wonderful ladies Jan & Violet today as they showed interest in taking part in an intergenerational quiz arranged and hosted by Friend in Deed this afternoon, we armed ourselves with a cup of tea, a larger screen, an extra speaker and the attitude that we may even learn something - however they only went and won in a nail biting tie breaker, but thanks to the wonderful children at Taverham Junior School who sided with Jan that cats and Dogs are in fact a form of black and white animals!
It was wonderful to see other homes talking part too as well as some testing questions set by the children at Norwich School that really got the coggs turning.!
Both ladies can't wait for next months quiz!
