Things don't happen TO you, they happen FOR you ✨

During my little break, this is one of the things I kept telling myself...

Now, that didn't serve me very well because I kept putting myself in the position of the victim and did nothing about it πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

"Why am I the only one struggling with this? Why does this always happen to me? ...."

I realised after a couple weeks of wallowing in my self pity that there are things IN my control and there are things OUT of my control

Reframing my thoughts and telling myself that all of this was happening FOR me and not TO me changed things πŸ™Œ

You can't always control what happens to you, but you can control your reaction to it and what you do as a result 🀭

Start taking ownership of your situation and think to yourself what can I do to help myself today? and how can I learn from it? πŸ’•

Annnnd I am back!! 🀩

I took some time off to recharge and I have to admit it was lovely πŸ₯°

There has been a lot of changes recently in my life and balancing Move & Bloom, full time work, a social life, and my family was harder than I anticipated

To avoid burning out I needed to re-evaluate my priorities and social media was not one of them πŸ€”

I rested, I worked on my mental health, I worked out, cleared my head, focused on my clients, and visited my family in France for the first time since COVID πŸ’•

Don't forget that the absence of sleep, nutritious diet, exercise, relaxation, and time with our loved ones isn't something to be applauded

Take care of yourself ✨

Mondays... The day we feel the need to get back on track...🀭

It's the beginning of a new week and you might be thinking that you need to get back on your diet after your weekend... or your cheat days... whatever you want to call them

Just to clarify, you do not need to "make up for this weekend"

You made the best decisions for yourself based on the information you had at the time and you should not blame yourself for that πŸ’•

But it's time to do something differently because if you keep going down this path every time it means something might not be quite right 🧐

Losing weight and dieting will not teach you to love yourself

Soo let's figure it out! πŸ€”

➑️ Swipe to ask yourself today if you're thinking of getting back on a diet

There has always been some form of stigma around "sizing up" in clothing πŸ™„

See my mother, is a tiny woman, and I remember vividly the first time I had to size up and choose a size that was above hers 🀭

I remember feeling ashamed, and I also remember being in such denial that I ended up buying her size.

Of course it didn't fit, so I literally never wore it πŸ˜‚ but it's the fact that I was willing to spend money on something that wasn't my size because of how much I didn't want to size up...

The truth is, we all have different body types and even if I ate and exercised the same way as my mom, we would still look different and we wouldn't be the same size πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

All bodies get to be offered space and comfort in the clothes they wear. πŸ‘–

It's breaking down the beliefs and meaning around clothing size and creating new ones that leave us feeling empowered πŸ™Œ

Once I understood that, and realised that I deserved to feel comfortable in my own body, I became a lot more confident πŸ’ͺ

You also deserve to feel comfortable in your clothes and your body πŸ’•

Don't wait for motivation to sweep you off your feet!! ❌

The common belief is that motivation is this magical thing that makes you do things like exercise, eat well, take care of ourselves .... 🀩

Sorry to break it to you but that's not how it works πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

Waiting on your couch for motivation to come knocking at the door is not going to get you anywhere πŸ›‹

I am not saying "get a grip and sort yourself out" because life is tough and sometimes we need a break

BUT if you want to make exercise and taking care of yourself a habit, then you can't rely on motivation

Some days I'm cold, I'm tired, and I don't want to get out of bed. But I get up and I show up for myself, letting habit kick in instead of waiting to feel motivated πŸ’ͺ

It's your turn to show up for yourself this week πŸ‘

What are you going to do to help yourself?

I am calling myself out on this one ⚠️

We need to STOP glamorising overworking!!

The absence of sleep, nutritious diet, exercise, relaxation, and time with our loved ones isn't something to be applauded ❌

Too many people wear they burnout as a badge of honour πŸ₯‡, I know I have in the past and am still working on it.

The truth is, you don't get a medal for overworking.

Yes, you might get praised because people think you have your s**t together, but the only thing you get is tired and stressed.πŸ˜–

It needs to change.

I used to get praised for working hard, at the cost of my mental and physical health. So naturally, I thought I was doing a good thing... πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

That was until I started getting regular break downs and was always over tired. πŸ˜ͺ

I didn't understand why it was only happening to me...

Burnout is not something to mess around, if you don't deal with it, it can escalate very quickly. 🀭

So, your task for this week is to turn off your computer and your phone, get out of the house and get some fresh air πŸƒ

Take the first step towards getting out of the cycle of burnout

You got this πŸ’ͺ

Body image is complex and doesn't change over night 🌝

Don't forget that you may have been struggling with this for months or even years πŸ•

How can you expect yourself to change your mindset in a couple of days? it's not realistic. You need to give yourself time

It takes daily work of unlearning internalised fatphobia, challenging that little voice in your head that tells you you are not good enough 🧠 and learning to treat yourself with respect

Here are 5 things you can do today to make a difference πŸ₯°

1️⃣Throw out your fu***ng scales - I promise you it's holding you back on your journey to self acceptance. I know you're scared that if you let it go you will get uncontrollably bigger but just isn't true

2️⃣DIVERSIFY YOU DAMN FEED - stop following accounts that promote diet culture bulls**t and unrealistic beauty standards that make you feel worse about yourself. Follow people in different body sizes, of different ethnicity, gender identities ....

3️⃣I beg you to wear clothes you feel comfortable in - I know it's easier said than done. But you DESERVE to feel comfortable. Wearing clothes that are too small unconsciously promotes negative body thoughts

4️⃣Limit the time you spend looking in the mirror - cut down the time you spend overanalysing and taking yourself apart

5️⃣Focus on what your body does for you instead of how it looks!

Body image is personal. We each have our own journeys with our bodies.

This is an exercise I did when I was healing my relationship with my body.

Taking the time to recognise how you may not have treated your body right, and apologising is very freeing.

Similarly, taking the time to thank your body for all it is able to do for you is a great way to make a first step in the direction of self-respect and self-acceptance.

What a crazy past couple of months and years! 🀭

After doubting myself throughout my degree, almost dropping out of university, losing someone close to me, being separated from my family for over a year, dealing with my anxiety at its peak, and doing all of that during a global pandemic, I am so happy to say things are starting to look up. πŸ™Œ

After spending 2 years working on my mental health and my relationship with my body, I am happy to say that I have never been happier in my own skin.πŸ’ƒ

I am also delighted to have graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in BSc Physiotherapy and am particular proud of getting a First Class Classification for my Dissertation following months of anxiety and self-doubt. πŸŽ“

Throughout these 3 years I also studied to become a personal trainer and am well on my way to becoming one of the very first Mental Health Personal Trainers in the UK. What a fu***ng journey that was too. Growing a community of like-minded people and having their support as well as my friends and family’s has meant so much to me. πŸ™ˆ

UEA has also played a huge part in Move & Bloom’s success, as I was awarded a grant in partnership with Santander after having put together my first business plan. πŸ“ƒ

And just to top it all off, today I start my new job as a Qualified Physiotherapist which I will be doing full-time alongside Move & Bloom. πŸ€“

So I want to thank you for being part of my journey, for taking the time to read my posts, for messaging me about it, for supporting me, telling me your success stories, and for working alongside me through this madness. ❀️

All the likes, the comments, the messages, the reactions … make more of an impact than you think. πŸ’•

I am not one of those people who take pictures of themselves when they are sad. Or ever to be fair! But I kind of wish I was, so I could show you that life is hard and it’s completely normal to not always be okay!

I mean to be honest more often than not I am freaking out πŸ˜‚ and although I am very open about it, it’s something else to see it.

Stress, break downs, self doubt, low confidence … are all things that I experience daily! πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

But the secret is to know how to pick yourself up. For a long time I thought that life was just something that happens to you, but the truth is we, ourselves, can make a huge impact on the outcome! πŸ™Œ

Negative thoughts actually make most of our daily thoughts so knowing how to deal with them helps us become more resilient!

But what’s equally important is when we are happy and thriving we need to try and understand why!

What is happening currently that is making you happy? Use that to keep you moving forward and use it to pick yourself up! ✨
