Our health theme for January is 'limit harmful substances.' Now we all know that alcohol and smoking are bad for us, but did you know that alcohol can actually negatively affect your spinal health? Our spine requires adequate hydration for the spinal cord to properly cushion the discs to prevent injury. But alcohol causes dehydration, thus putting extra strain on our spine. We will be posting this month about Dry January, and other ways you can reduce the amount of harmful substances you consume.
