The last six months have been a very strange time for us all. Personally it has been a journey in trying to improve my health. Two years ago I started to suffer distortion and tinnitus and a loss of hearing in one ear. This gradually worsened to the point where I had a hearing aid to help when I was in company or out in noisy environments but I was gradually wearing it more and more. Last year I started to experience vertigo attacks which gradually worsened to the point that in April/ early May I was unable to function as these attacks were laying me up for 24 hrs at a time with pressure and loud noise in my bad ear and dreadful dizziness, loss of balance and dreadful sickness which lasted for hours. I lost weight because it took several days for my stomach to recover but I was getting these attacks in quick succession. I was desperately looking around to try to find something to help as I was becoming very anxious and brain fogged as a result. My ENT consultant was unable to help until lockdown ended and I wasn't convinced that was the answer anyway. Luckily I found a clinic in Harley Street dealing with IBS and Autoimmune conditions and this was the best thing that happened. After consultations, tests and a complete change of diet I have been clear of any vertigo attacks for four months and my hearing in my bad ear has come back to about 90%. It hasn't been easy at all I am now Dairy free, Grain free, mould free and a few others too but the difference has been worth all the sacrifices in that I don't use the hearing aid, I can concentrate properly, the anxiety has gone and I feel really good in myself and my energy levels.
So my lesson from lockdown has been think about what you put into your body in terms of food. You can make such a difference to your health by good food. I have never cooked so much with fresh ingredients. Gone are the convenience foods, the sugar laden cakes and biscuits. Instead I am now a convert to chia seeds, almond milk, home made asparagus soup, grass fed meat and organic chicken, pomegranites, fennel and the list goes on.
Hopefully, once my body has detoxed and reset I will be able to reintroduce some of the treats I can't have at the moment but it has been worth it.
