Today is World Parkinson’s Day.

Parkinson’s is often associated with tremors, but it can also impact speech, movement, cognition, and mental health.

No two people experience it in exactly the same way.

In the workplace, this means looking beyond assumptions and being open to what support might be needed.

A more informed workplace is a more supportive one.

When we talk about health at work, it often gets reduced to the obvious things.

But for many disabled and neurodivergent people, workplace health is shaped by something else entirely.

It’s about whether the environment actually works for them.

A healthy workplace should take that into account.

- Accessible environments
- Support for mental wellbeing
- Real inclusion

Workplace health isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Not sure where to start?

Purple Reach supports businesses with practical guidance to build more inclusive workplaces.

Out of office (for a good reason) - it’s my birthday.
Back to normal tomorrow, but taking the day to switch off.

Wishing you a restful Easter, whatever that looks like for you.

Whether you’re spending time with family, taking a proper break, or just enjoying a quieter day, we hope you’re able to pause for a moment.

Taking time off isn’t always easy, but it matters.

If accessibility has been discussed but nothing has changed, this is usually why.
Not because people don’t care.

But because no one is quite sure what to do next.
So it gets parked.
Revisited.
Then parked again.

And in the meantime, the same barriers stay in place.

A short, focused conversation can often highlight:

Where accessibility gaps actually are
What’s already working and what isn’t
Where potential risk sits within your current setup
What realistic, practical improvements look like

This isn’t about overhauling everything overnight.

It’s about knowing where to start and what will make the biggest difference.

Purple Reach offers free initial consultations to give you that clarity.
There are a limited number of slots available this month.

If this has been sitting on your to-do list for a while, now is the time to move it forward.

Workplace stress isn’t always about workload.

It’s often about the environment people are expected to work in, the way things are communicated, and how much support is actually there.

For disabled people, that pressure can build quickly when workplaces aren’t set up with accessibility in mind.

Things like inaccessible spaces, sensory overload, unclear communication, or rigid ways of working don’t just make work harder - they add unnecessary stress.
And most of the time, it’s avoidable.

Here are a few ways businesses can reduce that pressure:

Flexibility matters
Clear communication
A safe, open culture

Stress doesn’t need to be something people just “cope with”.

What’s one workplace change that has helped reduce stress for you?

Sign Language Week is an opportunity to recognise the importance of communication access.

For many Deaf people, sign language is not just a preference - it’s essential for everyday communication, independence and participation.

Accessible communication isn’t only about what we say, but how we make space for everyone to understand and be understood.

Whether that’s:
• Providing interpreters
• Using clear visual information
• Considering inclusive communication methods

Small changes can make a significant difference.
Inclusion starts with being willing to adapt.

If you wanted to get started on your journey learning BSL here's the days of the week for you to try.

Neurodiversity brings strength, innovation and different ways of thinking.

Inclusive workplaces recognise that clear communication, structured processes and flexible environments benefit everyone — not just neurodivergent employees.

Inclusion is about removing unnecessary barriers and allowing people to thrive.

Access is a right, not a favour.

Accessible spaces - physical and digital - allow full participation in work, education and community life.

Disabled Access Day is a reminder that inclusion should be everyday practice, not just awareness day conversation.

Accessibility strengthens organisations, improves experiences and builds trust.
