Last night was a tough one. After experiencing back pain for some time now (thanks herniated disc, and the spondylitis.... oh and the scoliosis) I ran my last group, as the SW consultant for Hingham. It was a tremendously difficult decision to make, but the back has left me with no option.
BUT FEAR NOT!
My lovely members will be in extremely good hands, over the next 4 weeks. Our Monday evening sessions will remain open as usual, with the Hingham Tuesday morning consultant Kelly covering, until a brand new consultant takes over in April. Exciting times ahead!
I can't tell you how much of a pleasure its been to support each and every member, along their journey. And we have much to celebrate! with 121 target members, 117 club 10 members and a staggering 976.5 stone lost, all since January 2018.
I wish all my members, past and present, the very best for the future. I shall miss you bucket loads! I promise to rest, and you never know.... I could be a new woman by the end of the year! Xx

Slimming Myth No.5 - "Carbs are the enemy if you want to lose weight"

I have to admit I've fallen for this one myself before I discovered Slimming World!
If you cut out an entire food group, and carefully watch everything you eat, you're likely to eat much less overall for a while and you probably would lose some weight - until you start craving the things you're not allowing yourself to have and give up!

Slimming World's healthy eating plan is based on real nutrition science, not daft beliefs or fads, and we know that carbohydrate-rich foods like potatoes, pasta, rice and grains are highly-satiating foods. This means they keep you feeling comfortably full, and provide useful nutrients while you lose weight. Unless you have a specific medical condition which requires you to limit carbs, you can enjoy them as much as you like and lose weight beautifully!

Slimming Myth No.4 - "If you want to lose weight, you're going to need a lot of willpower"

This one makes me a bit cross because I've met some of the bravest, most determined people I've ever met at Slimming World. It's horribly unfair that some of them have been told all their lives that their weight is caused by a lack of willpower, when nothing could be further from the truth!

It takes a lot to get by in our judgemental society when you feel you don't match up to what's expected of you, and I am proud of every single person who's courageous enough to step through the doors of our Slimming World groups! That's just one reason we never humiliate people in our groups, or judge them or use nasty shaming language!

Having been helping people lose weight successfully for 50 years, we also know that 'willpower' doesn't work. We all get tired, or stressed, or busy and being hard on ourselves just gets in the way of our success. Instead we encourage members to get curious about their relationship with food and the decisions they make. With understanding and support, we help people develop 'choice-power' and realise they can achieve their slimming dreams! πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹

Slimming Myth No.3 - "You can't lose weight without exercising"

There are lots of good reasons to get a bit more active and at Slimming World we certainly encourage members to build some physical activity into their lifestyles at a pace that suits them. Regular exercise can boost your weight loss and has all sorts of other great benefits.

But unless you're training like an Olympic athlete, it's likely that by far the most impact on your weight loss is going to come from how you eat. The most energy your body uses every day is just the process of staying alive, and gradually changing your food habits is what will get you the results you want to see on the scales.

Changing habits takes a bit of thinking and a lot of support though, and that's what we're experts in!

Myth No.1 "To lose weight you just need to eat less"

Sounds like 'common sense' doesn't it? But one of the most common things to hear from someone who's embracing the Slimming World healthy eating plan for the first time is that they're amazed at how much they can eat and still lose weight!

Of course if you can manage to keep up a restrictive diet for long enough, you would lose weight.. but you might also lose the will to live!
