This morning at Belvoir Vale we celebrated breakfast day! One of our care staff Carol came in on her day off to set up and made some beautiful breakfast items for all staff and it went down a treat. Night staff, day staff and everyone in-between were enjoying this treat this morning. We even had one of our new residents come down and welcome the staff to breakfast.

We celebrated International Men's Day with the men who live with us the week before, with a trip to the air museum - one of the lovely gentleman that lives with us used to fly aircrafts like the ones we saw so we had a brilliant tour guide with us.

We celebrated again with 'A day in the workshop', followed by a lovely lunch and a pint made by our wonderful kitchen team. We started with a pub style quiz, shouting out the answers and working together to find the correct answer. We then put together some bug hotels and painted these alongside painting our new bird houses, which are going into our forest area to give shelter to the wildlife. We shared stories of jobs we've had in the past and things we have built, from houses to farm equipment, we all had a story to tell. Everyone had such a good day!

We celebrated our love for animals great and small, as we started the day with a wonderful visit from our friends at Zoo Lab, who brought along some wonderful small critters, from a lizard to corn snake and even giant African land snails.

We had a great time getting to know these animals and how they move with an exercise class. We got up close and some of us were brave enough to hold them.

In the afternoon we took a trip to RDA- Riding for disabled to see their horses, as always, we were blown away by their hospitality and kind natured horses, finishing the day with a nice warm drink and lovely cakes.

We had the amazing opportunity to host an evening activity with Nottinghamshire Astronomical Society member Julian, who came to the home to talk to us and show us what is above us in the sky, from planets, to stars and the northern lights.

His presentation was very informative and we all learnt so much we didn't know about the universe, telescopes and research happening right now. We are very grateful for this opportunity and hope to welcome Julian back soon. We finished the night with some fabulous star cookies and hot chocolates.

Our morning was brightened by a cheerful visit from the ever so cute Star the therapy dog.🐶

She received lots of love and soaked up all of the cuddles from everyone at Belvoir Vale and we loved seeing her! Our hearts were warmed by her visit, as we reminisced about lovely memories with our own pets and the many adventures with them.

Thank you very much Justine and Star, we loved seeing you.

In aid of World Heart Day on Monday 29th September, we raised awareness through an uplifting dress up day. We dressed up with all things red and hearts to spread some joy and love throughout the day.♥️

In addition, we took care of our own hearts with heart-healthy More...Movement exercise classes. We focused on aerobic exercise and ensured we warmed up and cooled down well.

Of course we had to balance this out with some fun and relaxing baking; decorating heart shaped biscuits. It was a heart warming afternoon full of laughter, music and delicious food!

In preparation for autumn, we spent a relaxing morning wreath making!🍁

We enjoyed making our wreaths as full and as colourful as possible with a selection of autumnal treasures, leaves, conkers, acorns and pinecones collected from our beautiful gardens. We got innovative with our patterns and colour combinations, all while enjoying music and chats.

They look wonderful on our doors and in our windows and they certainly got us in the cosy spirit.

It's that time of year again where the team here at Belvoir Vale take on the Memory Walk!

This year on October 11th at Wolloton Park Nottingham, we will be walking to raise awareness for dementia for those who live with us and those who have lived with us in the past.

In November 2023, as part of our bucket list dreams, a gentleman living with us, Mr. Herrick, wanted to see the racing pigeons again, an old hobby of his and being a part of the RPRA.

We organised for a pigeon fancier to come to the home, reuniting him with old friends: the pigeon society. It really did light up everyone's day.

A few weeks ago, a racing pigeon was found, weak and unable to fly right outside our doors a Belvoir vale. We contacted the owners and found that the pigeon had flown away 5 weeks ago from way up north. One of our amazing team took the pigeon home for the night, before it was re-homed to a lovely place with lots of pigeons the next morning.

This pigeon was a sign; it was only right we named him Herrick!

Time for a sing-song!🎵🎤

We enjoyed a wonderful performance from the Radcliffe on Trent Sing-along ladies, who sang a selection of wartime songs for us all to enjoy on a warm July afternoon.

It was an absolutely amazing performance which was so well thought out and beautifully sang. The people that live with us expressed how much they loved the song choices, and enjoyed dancing and singing along.

Thank you to the Radcliffe on Trent sing-along’s for an afternoon of enjoyment!🎶

Belvoir Vale Care Home is located in the pretty hamlett of Widmerpool, just off the A46 between Leicester and Newark, Nottingham and Melton Mowbray are within easy reach,

The home is designed like a care village, with three care homes in grounds of over two acres. Each building is purpose built and all bedrooms are attractively furnished with en-suite facilities.

There is a choice of bright and attractive lounges, dining rooms, and hairdressers which are accessible to all. The private, enclosed garden and patio area to the front of the home is enjoyed all year around but especially in the warmer months with al fresco events, drinks and afternoon teas. Our busy social calendar and extensive links with the community are a key part of our residents well being.
