It’s winter and the temperature has really dropped now. We all want to feel warm, cosy and safe in our homes but it can be a very worrying time for elderly and vulnerable people. This advice from the charity Age Concern is really helpful. Please keep a close check on loved-ones and neighbours during the winter.

We have part-time vacancies in our Home Care Teams. You can earn extra money doing a job that makes a difference. You do need a car to visit clients but we pay your mileage between calls and we train you.

You would be eligible for a Blue Light Discount Card and have access to our Employee Assistance Scheme which offers confidential advice and support (even counselling) if you have any family/life stresses.

You may be helping our clients with day-to-day tasks, having a chat and keeping them company, helping with meals or shopping. Maybe you have an interest you share such as handicrafts or board games.

We are well into the cold, miserable wintery weather now. It's especially important at this time of year to show that we care about family, friends and neighbours by checking in with them to see if they are ok. The NHS has a great leaflet with advice on how to stay well. It's worth sharing.

We have been inspired watching the BBC's latest Dementia Choir programmes with Nottingham actress Vicky McClure. Music is so powerful isn't it? The choir have recorded a single called What's Your Story?

Vicky said: "I couldn't be prouder of every single person who makes Our Dementia Choir what it is.

"Being able to record a song that gives voice to people living with dementia at the most famous recording studio in the world is an extraordinary achievement, and it's made even more incredible when you think that the recording was made with people living with dementia."
