Today marks the start of National Grief Awareness Week. Our members, whether working in cemeteries or crematoria, are often among the first people bereaved families turn to. This week, we recognise the importance of grief care and the role we play in providing compassion, dignity and understanding at one of life’s hardest moments.
We stand with The Good Grief Trust and the hundreds of bereavement organisations they represent, to shine a light on grief, normalise conversations about loss, and signpost to the support available across the UK.
If someone you know is bereaved, whether recently or some time ago, please encourage them to seek help. The Good Grief Trust offers a national database of charities and services offering emotional and practical support, available to everyone, anytime.
Let’s use this week to remind ourselves and others: grief does not follow a set timetable. There is no “correct” way to feel. What matters is that no one faces loss alone.
