šŸŽ„ Christmas & New Year Break šŸŽ„

As the festive season begins, I just wanted to let you know that Your Personal Therapist is now closed for a short Christmas break ✨

I’ll be back and responding to messages from Monday 5th January.

If you’re finding Christmas a little heavy (or a lot heavy), please know you’re not alone. This time of year can stir up all sorts - grief, stress, family dynamics, loneliness, overwhelm… sometimes all before breakfast šŸ™ƒ

If you need extra support while I’m away, please reach out to one of the services below - they are there for you 24/7 over the Christmas period:

šŸ“ž Samaritans: 116 123
šŸ“ž NHS 111 (urgent mental health support)
šŸ“ž Text SHOUT: Text 85258
🚨 In an emergency, please contact 999 or attend A&E

Please be gentle with yourself over the next couple of weeks. Rest where you can, eat the chocolate, get some fresh air, say no when you need to, and remember - you don’t have to ā€œdoā€ Christmas perfectly.

Wishing you warmth, steadiness, and moments of calm over the festive season šŸ’«

I look forward to reconnecting in January.

šŸ’› Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) šŸ’›

This week I travelled to Pontefract to complete a two-day Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training and it just so happened to fall on World Su***de Prevention Day.

It’s something that’s already a big part of my work, but this training really helped to formalise and deepen those skills. The past two days have been thoughtful, emotional and deeply grounding.

I’ve had the privilege of learning alongside some truly remarkable people - all committed to creating safer, more connected conversations when life feels unbearably heavy.

It’s a powerful reminder that asking, listening and staying present can make a real difference. 🌿

šŸ’« Those Who Teach Me Without Knowing It

My role models have always been the people I’ve worked with, the ones who show up even when it’s hard.

The ones who tell the truth about how they’re really doing, when it would be easier to hide behind ā€œI’m fine,ā€ or hit the self-destruct button because life can feel so painfully heavy.

They remind me that courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it’s just choosing to keep going, to ask for help, to let yourself be seen. 🌿

Who has inspired you lately?

Not every confidence knock in the saddle šŸŽ comes from a big fall.

Sometimes it’s quieter — a moment that shook you, a creeping doubt, or something deeper that’s hard to put into words.

You might notice yourself tensing up, second-guessing, or just not enjoying riding the way you used to — especially if you’ve come back to it later in life.🌿

That’s what this post is about. If it resonates, EMDR therapy might help you gently process what’s underneath, so you can feel calm, connected, and confident again šŸ¤

No pressure — just a safe space to talk if you’d like.

So many riders carry quiet fears that still show up in the saddle – especially if you’ve returned to riding later in life or after a confidence knock.

If this speaks to you (or someone you know), I offer EMDR therapy to gently explore and ease what’s underneath, helping you reconnect with the joy of riding.

I’d love to have a chat if you’re curious. No pressure – just an open space to explore what might help. šŸ“šŸ’¬

You don’t have to ā€œjust get over it.ā€ EMDR can help you actually move through it.

If something’s knocked your confidence—maybe a fall, a scary moment, or even just a feeling that won’t go away—you’re not alone.

I’ve worked with many people who’ve had similar experiences, and one thing is clear: with the right support, it is possible to feel like yourself again.

EMDR therapy helps your brain process what happened, so you’re not stuck in that loop of stress, fear, or avoidance.

Here’s what to know:

• ⚔ For some people, EMDR brings relief in just a few sessions
• ā³ For others, more time is needed to build up safety and stability first
• āœ… Both are okay—everyone’s pace is different, and that’s respected in this work

If you’re feeling stuck and wondering if EMDR might help:

Let’s talk.
I’m happy to answer questions and see if it’s the right fit for you.

✨ I've got a couple of spaces opening next week for EMDR therapy ✨

If you've lost confidence after a scare—like a fall, a near miss, or something that’s just stuck with you—EMDR can really help.

It’s not about "just getting over it." It’s about working through it safely and at your own pace. For some people, that shift can happen surprisingly quickly.

Check out the post below and drop me a message if you’d like to book in or ask any questions.

What am I grateful for today?

It’s a simple question, yet a powerful one. I’ve been inspired by a friend who has been sharing daily gratitude posts, even in the midst of life’s challenges. Their reflections remind me that no matter what we’re going through, there is always something—big or small—that we can appreciate.

Gratitude doesn’t erase struggles, but it helps us shift our perspective. It allows us to see light even on the hardest days and find moments of peace amidst uncertainty.

So, I invite you to take a moment today and ask yourself: What am I grateful for? Feel free to share in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts.

This is a question I often reflect on, and it’s one I encourage my clients to explore:

Am I focused on what I am losing or gaining?

Loss and change often come hand in hand, and they can be heavy to carry. Whether it’s the end of something familiar or the letting go of an old pattern, it’s natural to feel the ache of what’s slipping away. At the same time, it can be powerful to ask: What am I gaining through this?

Maybe it’s a chance to grow. To uncover new opportunities. To step into a version of yourself you didn’t even know was possible. Shifting your focus doesn’t mean ignoring your grief or pain – it’s about creating space for hope and possibility to take root alongside it. We may not choose the change, but we can choose how we respond.

If you’re navigating change right now, I encourage you to pause and ask yourself:

What might be waiting for me on the other side of this?

You don’t need to have the answer right away, even just asking the question can be a step toward healing.

You are allowed to hold both the loss and the gain with grace.

For those who want to dive deeper into this idea, I can recommend The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr Benajmin Hardy.

A little food for thought as you step into the weekend: What are you gaining through change?
