This looks like a highly relevant and timely webinar series being organised by BABICM, starting on 25 February.

This specialist series will explore real cases and the real challenges faced by brain injury and complex case managers in day-to-day practice. Across six sessions, the focus is firmly on what actually happens in the role, moving beyond theory to examine decision-making, ethical dilemmas, multidisciplinary working, and the practical realities of supporting individuals and families with complex needs.

Throughout the year, we have attended many different events, and below are some of the development activities our team has taken part in during 2025, illustrating the breadth of learning that underpins our work. https://www.akacasemanagement.com/personal-development-at-aka-case-management/

Latest news from The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) - New legal partnerships to support people living with spinal cord injury

SIA is launching a new four-year programme of legal partnerships to help people affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) get the right advice and support when they need it.

With the previous three-year legal partnerships coming to an end, they took a review of what worked well and where we could make improvements. Then they ran a careful selection process to ensure they are working with law firms that really understand spinal cord injury and the day-to-day challenges people can face after an injury.

Last week, Sarah Longshaw and Emma Bralee attended the Child Brain Injury Conference in Birmingham.

The day provided valuable insight into the realities faced by children with brain injury and their families. One of the most powerful sessions focused on shared stories from parents, offering an honest view of day-to-day life and highlighting the meaningful difference that the right professional support can make.

There were also thought-provoking discussions on the implementation of neurotechnology within paediatric inpatient neurorehabilitation settings, showcasing how innovation continues to shape better outcomes for children and young people.

Sarah and Emma also took the opportunity to engage with exhibitors and connect with colleagues from across the sector, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and shared learning.

The Irwin Mitchell Brain Injury Conference 2026, The Language of Recovery, takes place on 5 February in London.

This year’s theme focuses on communication across the brain injury spectrum, exploring how communication can change following acquired brain injury and what effective, inclusive support looks like in practice.

The programme brings together advocacy specialists and leading speech and language therapy experts to examine key areas, including cognitive communication disorders and multicultural communication challenges. There will also be an update on the national ABI strategy from representatives of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum, alongside practical insight from the N ABLES group on supporting education professionals to better teach and include children with brain injury.

Here's the latest article from one of our clients, Phil 2.0. We like to share his articles as they are very thought-provoking. The latest one is called 'Well, it wouldn’t be the same without some musical reference!'

I’m not concerned here, with the name of the band.

What is relevant though, is the album title...

..because this post is about my blog!

It is post number 100, so I ought to mark the occasion, by making it the star of show!

Posts are usually motivated by a then recent, event...and what could be more recent, than what I am typing, right now?

Of course I write this blog, so no need to report the fact that I am doing so!

What I am going to cover here, is the question of why do I write and publish it?

In short, there are 2 significant reasons...

We wanted to share an update on the football team that we proudly sponsored back in July.

The team are CCCs, competing in the Central Warwickshire Girls’ Football League at under 14 level, firmly rooted in grassroots football. We were introduced to the team by Emma Bralee, Assistant Case Manager, as her daughter has been part of the squad for 4 seasons.

From a performance perspective, the results speak for themselves. CCCs are currently the only team in their division yet to lose a match and sit second in the league, reflecting the commitment, discipline and teamwork shown week in and week out.

Training takes place every Thursday evening, with match days on Saturdays. It’s inspiring to see the dedication of the players, coaches and families who support the team and help create such a positive environment for young athletes to thrive.

Thank you, Emma, for keeping us updated on how the CCC’s are doing. ⚽

This week, we trialled something simple but highly effective.

Following our recent productivity review, the team suggested short, focused IT training sessions to share everyday tips and shortcuts that make a real difference. We listened.

Over three days, we ran quick 30-minute sessions covering practical areas such as Keyboard shortcuts, screen grabs, pinning and bookmarking common folders, apps, and pages, Word, Excel, Teams, voice-to-text, and split screens.

The focus was not on reinventing the wheel, but on learning from one another and sharing the small IT hacks that save time, reduce friction and improve how we work day to day.

It's a great example of continuous improvement in action. Practical ideas, driven by the team, designed to make us even more productive and efficient while protecting time and energy.

Sometimes the simplest changes deliver the biggest gains.

Last week, Emma Bralle and Sarah Longshaw attended the Child Brain Injury Conference, Bridging the Gaps: Medical, Legal and Practical Pathways in Childhood Brain Injury.

This is a well-established and highly regarded conference, bringing together litigation and Court of Protection solicitors alongside case managers who support children and families living with the impact of brain injury.

The event created real space for shared learning, with a strong balance of formal presentations, interactive panel discussions, and thoughtful Q&A. The focus on collaboration across medical, legal and practical pathways reflects how outcomes are strengthened when professionals work in step, grounded in experience and best practice.

They also raised over £4,450 for their charity partners at the Child Brain Injury Conference. 👏

As we reflect on last year, we are reminded that everything we do is made possible by the remarkable individuals we support. Their resilience, creativity and commitment to progress continue to define what meaningful rehabilitation looks like in practice.

Throughout 2025, we have seen important milestones reached, personal victories achieved and moments of genuine pride shared. These journeys reinforce why the work matters and set a strong foundation for the future.

We would like to take this opportunity to spotlight just a few of the stories that have inspired us over the past year and continue to shape our approach as we move forward. https://www.akacasemanagement.com/celebrating-our-clients/
