☾ Pink Moon ☾

Aprils full moon, also know as the Pink Moon will occur on Saturday 12th April. This moon is also known as a ‘micromoon’. Most people have heard of a supermoon, but a micromoon is (you guessed it) the opposite. It occurs when the moon is at its farthest point from the Earth and appears smaller than usual.

Despite the name, the moon won’t appear pink. It in fact gets its name from pink wildflowers called Phlox Subulata that are the earliest to bloom in spring.

A sacred lunar moment, in the years gone by, tribes used this moon to plan the planting of their flowers. This week, the pink moon is libra follows directly after weeks of retrograde, creating a cosmic gateway for relationship healing and inner balance. So if you’ve been feeling tension in your relationship, maybe an imbalance or things being one sided it’s time to use the energy of this moon to its full potential. Your intuition is already attuning to this energy, all you need to do is trust in it.

One of the eight yearly sabots that is also known as the Spring Equinox, celebrates the start of spring and the return of light, acknowledging the balance between day and night. It is a time of rejuvenation, rebirth and vibrant growth…

The Goddess Ostara, or Eostre, is associated with spring, fertility, and rebirth. She celebrates the return of warmth, growth, and vitality to the earth after the dormancy of winter.

Symbols of Ostara; Eggs and hares, both representing fertility and rebirth. Flowers and fairies are also considered to be symbols of Ostara.

Colours of Ostara; Green, yellow and other soft pastel colours such as pink, lavender and light blue.

Crystals of Ostara; Citrine, green aventurine, rose quartz, amethyst and ocean jasper, just to name a few!

Herbs/Flowers of Ostara; Lemongrass, lavender, daffodils, lemon balm, crocus, jasmine, hyacinth.

So, my plans for Ostara? They’ll happen over a few days as Thursday I’m at work, however, I do plan to get out in the garden, and start to sort out my seeds and bulbs to plant. I’ve got a lot! I also need to arrange my alter in appropriate attire! Lots of lovely pastel colours and decorations. Over the weekend, I’m hoping to decorate some egg shells with my two girls, plus make a delicious lemon and lavender cake. I’m not sure what else at the moment. Maybe a nice evening meditation or ritual, but let’s see where the weekend takes us!

A beautiful ‘Full Worm Moon’ tonight. The name refers to the earthworms returning to the soil. A symbol of rebirth and change. A powerful reminder of life beginning to stir and awaken. The ground begins to thaw and shoots and bulbs that have sat dormant begin to make their way above ground, ready for the springtime ahead. 🌙
