📢 Calling All Care Workers: Your Voice Matters!

Red Umbrella is conducting the Caring for Our Carers Study to better understand the mental health and wellbeing of care workers across the UK.

Care workers are the heart of our communities, but the demands of the role can take a toll. This study aims to:

✨ Highlight the mental health realities in the care sector.
✨ Identify areas where support and resources are most needed.
✨ Drive policy and practice changes to improve working conditions and wellbeing initiatives.

Yesterday, I completed a Level 2 Mental Health First Aid training course, led by and facilitated by . Research published by RABI and led by researchers at the , has highlighted the high rate of poor mental wellbeing amongst farming people, so it was important to me to take a mental health training course that situated the issue within a farming context.

I was a bit nervous about spending a whole day on Zoom, but the training was discussion-based which made it engaging and interesting. I also enjoyed getting to chat to the other students, including farmers and others who engage with farmers on a regular basis.

I’d highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to learn more about mental health and the “first aid” steps you can take to support someone who is struggling.
