Red Umbrella is conducting the Caring for Our Carers Study to better understand the mental health and wellbeing of care workers across the UK.

Care workers are the heart of our communities, but the demands of the role can take a toll. This study aims to:

Yesterday, I completed a Level 2 Mental Health First Aid training course, led by and facilitated by . Research published by RABI and led by researchers at the , has highlighted the high rate of poor mental wellbeing amongst farming people, so it was important to me to take a mental health training course that situated the issue within a farming context.

I was a bit nervous about spending a whole day on Zoom, but the training was discussion-based which made it engaging and interesting. I also enjoyed getting to chat to the other students, including farmers and others who engage with farmers on a regular basis.

I’d highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to learn more about mental health and the “first aid” steps you can take to support someone who is struggling.

At Red Umbrella, we offer Su***de First Aid training in partnership with SFA: Su***de First Aid. Accredited by City and Guilds of London, our comprehensive one-day training equips participants with essential skills in su***de intervention, applicable in both professional and personal contexts.

Our trainers are highly experienced in su***de prevention, offering a blend of lectures, group work, and roleplay to enhance learning. By the end of the session, Su***de First Aiders will feel confident in intervening with individuals at risk, initiating conversations about su***de, understanding underlying causes, and guiding individuals towards appropriate support and treatment options.

We firmly believe that just as workplaces require physical first aiders, having mental health and su***de first aiders should be EQUALLY mandatory.
