International Control Room Week

You are the critical first point of contact in times of crisis, the calm in the chaos, and often the unsung heroes behind the scenes.

Every day, you make incredibly difficult decisions and support those who are distressed, frightened, or in danger — all while maintaining professionalism and compassion.

Your work saves lives, supports communities, and truly makes a difference.

Heat-related ill health is very common when the temperatures soar and prolonged exposure to extreme heat can also exacerbate existing medical conditions.

To ensure our ambulance crews can focus on the most critically ill patients in the region, we ask everyone to take measures to stay healthy during the hot weather that is forecast:

☂️ Spend time in the shade when the sun is at its strongest, usually between 11am to 3pm

💧 Stay hydrated, carry water around with you in a bottle you are able to reuse if needed

😎 Use at least factor 30 sunscreen and wear sunglasses

A great message from Carsington Water. People don’t realise how dangerous reservoirs can be.

☀️ Hot weather - please don't swim 🏊

We know it looks tempting to take a dip in Carsington Water during this sunny spell - but please don't swim in the reservoir.

The water may look inviting but it hides cold temperatures, strong currents and underwater hazards that can put lives at risk.

Please enjoy the beautiful views, have a picnic or try some supervised water sports with the Carsington Sports and Leisure.

It’s very warm for this time of year. For anyone that knows someone with a dog, please share this post. Tomorrow is expected to break records for May at 30 degrees! This is extremely dangerous for dogs, potentially burning pads if tarmac is hot enough and causing heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Please be careful.
