The family members of Rusticus recently harnessed their creativity by doing some autumnal painting 🎨

Some family members used leaves as stencils to create lovely pieces of art, whereas some got creative with their hands or decorated bird boxes.

Calming activities like these can help to reduce stress levels, while also improving physical skills such as dexterity and balance.

At Church Farm Care, we use Kitwood’s Flower to shape our approach to care.

This identifies six key emotional needs which are essential for well-being in dementia care:

Identity - helping to ensure you keep doing the things that really matter and make you, you.
Occupation - creating moments of purpose and achievement throughout the day.
Inclusion - living and working together with others as a family
Attachment - building positive relationships to improve well-being.
Comfort - providing a loving and social environment that supports the person's psychological needs and well-being.
Love - Ensuring that you feel that you are part of the family and cared for every day.

Recently, the family members of Church Farm Cotgrave have been reflecting on past experiences by doing some traditional women's war work 🪖

Women’s work was essential to the British war effort in World War Two, when all unmarried women, aged 20-30 in 1941, either had to join the armed forces, work in a factory or join the women’s land army.

Our family members tried some of these skills for themselves such as sewing and typing 🪡

These reflective activities can help improve mood, enhance self worth and strengthen key social bonds 💖
