21 years of Aveda Urban Therapy, Nottingham ✨
21 years ago, we took a leap of faith.
This began with our love for Aveda and the realisation that our journey with our former employer had ended. We left six months before opening — not because it was easy, but because pretending every day wasn’t something we could do.
We didn’t go small.
We opened Nottingham’s first Aveda Lifestyle Salon in a very different city sadly than it is today.
Long before social media, with no clients and no staff — just a lease, a four-floor refit, a plan, and a level of passion that carried us through.
It’s been a journey full of growth, pride, heartbreak, and lessons — some wonderful, some painfully hard. Every person who has walked through our doors has played a part in our story, and we are truly grateful to everyone who trusted us with their hair and their time.
We are an independent business, proudly partnered with Aveda, owned by the same two women who started this at 32 years old, never did we dream 21 years, we believed we were lucky to make the first 10 year lease obligation.
At one point there were three salons. Today, there is perspective, gratitude, and pride.
The hair industry has changed, and running a salon isn’t what it once was — which makes maintaining our values and our business for 21 years an achievement we are incredibly proud of.
We’ve trained, mentored, and believed in so many people — some now owning their own salons.
Even when some journeys ended without appreciation, we know what we gave: opportunity, belief, heart and inspired a lot of people to emulate what we have created.
It all started with one thought from us.
“We can do this.”
And 21 years later — we did
