What started as a routine care visit in West Lancashire became a life or death emergency within seconds.

Care professional Amanda Fox was supporting 82-year-old Norma at her home in Ormskirk when the elderly lady suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing.

Amanda didn’t hesitate and immediately began CPR and called an ambulance. “I just did everything I could to bring her back.” she said.

Within moments, Norma started breathing again.

It was later discovered that a gas leak in her home had caused the collapse.

Her Branch Manager, Tanya McCrea, described Amanda as “an amazing care professional”, recognising not only her quick thinking, but the compassion she shows every day.

Lancashire Council also shared their thanks, calling it a “fantastic outcome” and saying Amanda should feel “extremely proud”.

Amanda has since been presented with flowers by her team and will be nominated for CCH Group’s Extraordinary Care Awards.

This is what care really looks like.
When everything changes in an instant, our care professionals step in and do whatever it takes to keep people safe.

Every day at our Pullen Day Centre and Westbourne Park Day Centre in London, we’re providing support and actively strengthening the communities around us.

Creating spaces where older people can stay well, stay active and stay connected to the world beyond their front door.

Through visits with organisations like the English National Operaa and the Metropolitan Police Service people are accessing experiences that would otherwise be out of reach.

It reduces isolation and loneliness.
It supports independence and delays the need for more intensive care.
It provides vital respite for families and carers.
And it keeps people visible, valued and part of the communities they belong to.

This is what social care should look like.
Preventative. Connected. Community-led.

It turns out our Gary Wells is a bit of a celebrity 🙂.

Gary, a Regional Recruiter at CCH Group, is featured in a national Department for Work and Pensions - DWP campaign.

If you’re in the North West, you’ll probably already know Gary. He’s always out at careers fairs, in schools and colleges, opening doors and showing people what a career in care can really look like.

It also speaks to why DWP partner with CCH Group. We’re one of the largest recruiters in the UK, but more importantly, we invest in our people. From day one, our teams are supported, developed and mentored into real careers in care. That’s what makes us the best place to work in care, and why partnerships like this work so well.

(We’ll give Gary a few weeks before he’s off to Hollywood and we have to start booking him through an agent 😁)

We’re really pleased to welcome Damian Biswell to CCH Group as our new Chief Transformation Officer.

Damian has spent years helping organisations rethink how they work across healthcare and complex systems. But for him, social care is more than a career move. It’s personal.

“My partner Sandra was diagnosed with very early onset dementia and is now receiving end of life care,” he says. “When you experience the system from the family side, it completely changes how you see it.”

That perspective shapes how he approaches transformation at CCH.

For Damian, it’s about real change. Not small tweaks, but meaningful improvements that connect everything, from systems and processes to people and culture.

And it starts with listening.

“People don’t all start from the same place. If you don’t take the time to understand that, you end up talking past each other.”

Since joining, one thing has stood out straight away.

“The passion of the people. There’s a real sense that people genuinely care about what they do, and at the scale we operate across the UK, that’s something to be proud of.”

Looking ahead, his focus is clear. Building a more connected, more agile organisation that delivers strong outcomes, while continuing to support tens of thousands of people to live better lives every day.

And playing a bigger role in shaping the future of care across the sector.

We’re delighted to welcome Damian to CCH Group and look forward to the impact he’ll have as we continue to grow and strengthen care across the UK.

💥BREAKING NEWS FROM CCH 💥

This week at the Bishops Stortford branch, the universe glitched.

Our brand-new Branch Manager Craig McColl met our Head of Quality Craig McCall...and the office Wi‑Fi immediately gave up trying to tell them apart.

Honestly, it felt less like a meet‑and‑greet and more like someone hit copy + paste on “Craig McC”.

Highlights included:
Staff whispering, “Which Craig is your Craig?”
Outlook sending emails to whichever Craig felt spiritually right
A brief panic that we’d hired a clone with better hair

We now officially have a Craig² situation. Please label your Craigs responsibly.

Welcome aboard, Craig McColl - and good luck to everyone who relies on names to function. 😂

People love to underestimate careers in care.
Until they see what’s actually possible.

Joanne Brannen started working in care at 16, in a care home in her village.
She knew the residents. She was part of the community. And she realised early on that this was where she belonged.

Today, Joanne is a Homecare Director at CCH Group, leading services across the North East, Scotland and Wales.

That doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens when people are given the chance to grow. When they’re supported, developed and encouraged to step forward.

At CCH Group, we don’t see care as a job you pass through.
We see it as a career you can build.
And Joanne’s story shows just how far it can take you.

The Oscars celebrated great performances this weekend.
But some of the most important moments happen far away from the red carpet.

Front doors.
Kitchens.
Living rooms, where someone is waiting for a friendly face.

Because the most important things in life aren’t scripted. They happen when a care professional walks through the door and changes someone’s day.

Forget the red carpet. Our runway is the real world.

If you're looking for a career that truly matters, becoming a CCH care professional could be the most rewarding role you will ever take on.
