Nottingham MS Therapy Centre - The Oxygen Centre

Nottingham MS Therapy Centre - The Oxygen Centre (home of the MS Therapy Centre) therapies include Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy & much more.

Registered charity helping the people of Notts & surrounding areas for over 40 years. The Nottingham MS Therapy Centre was established in 1984 solely for people with multiple sclerosis and everyone connected with them. Over the last few years hyperbaric oxygen has been shown to offer beneficial results to people with many other health conditions, including cancers, injuries, and for children with cerebral palsy or autism. We feel our new name reflects this and it has the full support of our many members with MS. Our charity remains the Nottingham MS Therapy Centre but our open membership welcomes and supports people with other health conditions. We are now known as the Nottingham Oxygen Centre (home of the MS Therapy Centre)

New research finds choroid plexus alterations in people with Long Covid

A new study, published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, has been reported on by The Independent and other news sources today.

Dr Katrina Pears, MEA Research Coordinator, comments on the blog, "The study, published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, examined changes in the choroid plexus — a structure involved in immune activity and cerebrospinal fluid regulation.

Researchers found that individuals with Long Covid showed slightly enlarged choroid plexus volume and reduced blood flow compared with healthy controls. These patterns can also appear in other conditions involving inflammation."

Prof. Bhupesh Prusty and his team have recently published results from their ME Research UK-funded study investigating how viral infections may influence the development of ME/CFS. They found that immunoglobulins (or antibodies) from the blood of people with post-infectious ME/CFS caused disruption to the mitochondria of healthy endothelial cells (bit.ly/3ZKaUhT). The mitochondria are responsible for generating energy in the cells of the body. We will present a more detailed look at these results in due course.

Physios for ME survey on hyperbaric oxygen/oxygen therapy for people with LC and ME/CFS

"The aim of this study is to explore the experiences of hyperbaric oxygen/oxygen therapy for people with Long COVID and/or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). It is known that many people with ME/CFS and/or Long COVID have tried hyperbaric oxygen/oxygen therapy but there is a lack of formal studies in this area.

You are eligible to take part if you have ME/CFS or Long COVID and have tried hyperbaric oxygen / oxygen therapy."
