Surreal Holistic Therapy While bodywork includes massage techniques, my approach is holistic and integrative My name is Jenny and I am the founder of Surreal Holistic Therapy.

I am a certified Bodywork Therapist, which means that my scope of practice is not only to treat your physical body but also your emotional and energetic bodies too! . I chose the name " Surreal " because it means, total relaxation and dream-like state, I like to think the treatments I offer apart from Sports and Deep Tissue therapy allows this to happen! I enjoy what I do because the first point of contact extends so much further than just the physical wellness. I get to help people feel better physically, emotionally, and spiritually. There are very few jobs out there that allow you to do this, and massage therapy is one of them. People come to me from all walks of life with different types of issues. Some people have been extremely stressed with work, family life, or are recovering from surgery. Whatever it is, I get to help them through it and put them on the path to a successful recovery. Healing through alternative therapies isn't a quick fix, but if followed consistently and in conjunction with a good healthy diet and exercise program, you'll experience long-lasting results. Massage is one of the oldest forms of medicine according to Hippocrates of Cos (460 to 375 BC) and used as a healing tool, to treat the whole person's physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the body to achieve optimal wellness in Ancient Africa, China and India. On my travels to Africa and Far East Asia, I was amazed at how many people including families young and old, would book in for a massage instead of visiting their General Practitioners. I was so impressed that, through extensive research, I enrolled on an Aromatherapy Balinese massage course at Bali Bisa the International Spa Academy in Bali, which was truly amazing as I learned more about ancient massage rituals and techniques. The Balinese (Eastern) massage is a form of deep tissue massage designed to work almost every muscle in the body. Originating on the island of Bali, this massage involves a combination of techniques, including, acupressure, reflexology, and aromatherapy into one session. Often used for relaxation, this type of massage also helps to loosen muscles and ease the pain. VTCT

Reflexology and Pain Management
Not only is pain connected by physical factors, it can also be triggered by the nervous system, for example stress levels and fatigue .When the body is under long term stress, the nervous system can remain in a heightened state, which may increase muscle tension and amplify the body’s perception of pain.

According to Gajendran, D, (2012) Reflexology is an ancient therapy dating back to 5000 years ago in Africa, India and China, used for healing our body without medicines.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works by encouraging deep relaxation through soothing the nervous system. Reflexology can also assist in easing muscle tension and supports the body’s natural pain-modulation processes.

Reflexology also supports circulation, helping to improve the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues while helping with the removal of metabolic waste products, which can be beneficial for areas of ongoing tension or discomfort.

Reflexology does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, however it may be used alongside conventional medical care, when worked alongside with a general practitioner/ health care provider, as part of a holistic approach to pain management.

Interesting article, on how aging and longevity is measured by muscle tone and strength in the legs! No wonder I feel more energised after I've been on a walk!

Scientists have uncovered a surprising insight into human aging that challenges long held assumptions. According to a scientist involved in recent research, the strongest predictor of how well people age is not found in the brain, but in the strength and function of the legs. Leg muscles play a cent...

Reflexology for Improved Circulation
Reflexology is a holistic healing technique that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears to stimulate various organs and systems in the body. This practice is believed to improve circulation, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.

Specific Reflexology Techniques for Circulation
Toe Walking- Walking on the toes can help improve blood circulation in the feet and legs.Ankle Rotations-Rotating the ankles in both directions can enhance blood flow to the lower extremities.
Foot Rubbing-Massaging the soles of the feet with circular motions can stimulate circulation and relax the muscles.

Benefits of Reflexology on Circulation
Reflexology has been shown to have a positive impact on blood flow and circulation throughout the body. By targeting specific reflex points, reflexologists can help improve the efficiency of the circulatory system, leading to better oxygen and nutrient delivery to cells and tissues.
This can result in improved overall health and vitality.

Reflexology in Holistic Wellbeing
In holistic wellbeing , reflexology is considered a complementary therapy that works alongside traditional medical treatments to address circulation issues.
While traditional medical treatments often focus on medications or surgeries, reflexology takes a more natural approach by targeting key reflex points to improve circulation and promote better blood flow throughout the body.

Reflexology helps to relax the muscles and improve nerve function, which can aid in enhancing circulation.
By stimulating specific reflex points on the feet, reflexology can help to reduce inflammation and promote better oxygen and nutrient delivery to the tissues.
This therapy also helps to release tension and blockages in the body’s energy pathways, allowing for a smoother flow of blood and lymphatic fluid.

The Benefits of Chakra Stones and Hot Stone Massage

The body holds energy centres called chakras that influence physical, emotional, and mental well-being. When these chakras become blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to discomfort, stress, and health issues. Hot stone massage, combined with chakra stones, offers a powerful way to restore balance and promote healing. This practice dates back thousands of years (2000, BC) in Native America where Indigenous tribes used hot stones in sweat lodges and healing ceremonies. Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine, also incorporated heated stones to balance the body's energies and stimulate vital points. During treatnemnt the therapist will place heated stones on specific chakra points to release tension, improve circulation, and encourage the free flow of life force energy, known as Prana. Understanding how chakra stones and hot stone massage work together can help you unlock your body’s natural energy flow and experience deep relaxation and clarity.
