Why do we hold some poses for longer in yoga?

Holding a pose allows your muscles and connective tissues to release tension gradually, giving your body time to lengthen and your mind a chance to settle. It’s not just about stretching, it’s about creating space, improving mobility and calming your nervous system.

Sometimes, a little wriggle or gentle adjustment within the pose can actually be helpful. Small movements help your body find its optimal alignment, ease stiffness and prevent discomfort while still deepening the stretch. Think of it as exploring the pose rather than forcing it.

New Year's Reflection & Intention Setting Workshop

This gentle, grounding workshop is an invitation to move slowly, breathe deeply and consciously set intentions for the year ahead. Through mindful movement, breathwork, guided reflection and a deeply restful Yoga Nidra practice, you’ll be supported to release what no longer serves you and create space for what you truly want to call in.
