Our David Lloyd West Bridgford dementia friendship group were all treated to some wonderful enlightenment today!

Anand from Right at Home Grantham, Newark, Melton & Oakham (a qualified Yoga guru) joined us to challenge our wisdom and strengthen our spiritual connections.

We also played some serious Cleggy dominoes and ate delicious sausage cobs.

Keep warm, safe and active everyone! ❤️

Critical Incident Stood Down

As of 3.52pm today, the critical Incident declared by the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust on Tuesday 4 November has now stood down.

They have confirmed that the operational performance has improved, with fewer ambulance and long waits in A&E. A critical incident is due to sustained pressures on our emergency services, particularly the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC), leading to long waits and overcrowding in their Emergency Department.

Remember looking after your health is always the priority!

How can we help you?

Our team are fully trained to support our community and we regularly monitor our client’s wellbeing, working alongside other community healthcare professionals to help avoid escalation or deterioration in health and wellbeing.

If you or someone you know needs reassuring home care or social connection, do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on 0115 8800911.

Let’s work together to support everyone to keep safe and well this winter.

It’s our Kayleigh and the mighty Darren who live his life to the full despite his disabilities. We are all very grateful to be inspired by this wonderful fella ❤️

Sometimes, it’s the small routines that make home feel like home. Picking up the morning paper, enjoying a hot lunch, or knowing someone will be there to lend a hand with the shopping.

Our visiting care offering is built entirely around the way you live your life. Whether it’s support once a week or every day, our Carers help you keep your independence while giving families peace of mind that someone is looking out for you.

A life with dementia: Why the right rehabilitation and meaningful support really matters.

Here at Right at Home Nottingham, our team are passionate advocates for the person-centered approach to all dementia care, and we are delighted to see it highlighted in the major new World Alzheimer Report 2025

The report, titled 'Re imagining life with dementia – the power of rehabilitation', aligns perfectly with our culture: that with the right, tailored support, people can maintain their preferred activities, independence, and quality of life in our community for longer.

Key Takeaways that resonate with our specialist approach:

Person-centered & collaborative: Rehabilitation is a collaborative, person-centered approach. Our Dementia Support Programme focuses on what matters most to those living with dementia.

The Power of ability: The report emphasises that SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goal setting is part of an effective rehabilitation approach. This is the very foundation of our bespoke cognitive support.

Maintain Independence: Studies in the report show that tailored, individual cognitive rehabilitation can lead to lower levels of disability and help people remain in their own homes for six months longer than those who received only standard care.

Meet Kayleigh and Phil, their time spent together provides specific activities providing specific cognitive stimulation to help maintain function and strengthen reassuring connections.

It is clear: rehabilitation for dementia should be a standard part of support, and planning, not a afterthought as things progress.

If you are looking for specialist, goal-oriented, and person-centered dementia support at home in Nottingham, talk to our friendly team today.

Recommended Dementia Social Group

Where: Rushcliffe Country Park
When: Wednesday 15th October
What Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm

We look forward to meeting you!

Here is a reminder why we should all invest in socialising for better health.

Many credible studies show that strong social connections are linked to a longer, healthier, and happier life for all of us. One major analysis of 148 different studies found that people with strong social ties had a 50% greater chance of survival than those who were more isolated—an effect comparable to quitting smoking.

How does it work with cognitive health?

Engaging in conversations and social interactions actively exercises of cognitive functionality, including attention, memory, and reasoning. This acts as a constant "workout" for the brain, helping to strengthen neural pathways and build up the brain's resilience against decline.
