If you’re worried about yourself or a loved one’s relationship with food, body, or health, speaking to your GP can be a powerful first step.

You don’t need to have everything “figured out” before you ask for help.

Your concerns are valid, and support is available.

Eating disorders affect far more people than many realise.

In the UK, an estimated 1.25 million people are currently living with an eating disorder — and that number doesn’t include the families, friends, partners, and carers who support them every day.

Awareness Week is a reminder that behind every statistic is a network of people impacted, and a community that matters.

Understanding the scale helps us challenge stigma and advocate for earlier, kinder support.

Eating Disorder Awareness Week reminds us that healing doesn’t happen in isolation.

This year, we celebrate the importance of Community — whether it’s friends, family, peers, or professionals. Your community can be a lifeline.

No one should have to navigate an eating disorder alone.

This week, let’s make space for connection, understanding, and conversations that reduce shame and increase support.

Have your say on our new children, young people and families website!

We’re working on updating our children, young people and families section of our website, and we’d like your help to shape it.

Our web team has created a small number of concept-only design ideas to explore how the website could look and feel in the future.

These concepts are not final designs, but early ideas to help us understand what works well and what could be improved.

We want the website to feel clear, welcoming and supportive for everyone who uses it — including children and young people, parents and carers, and professionals. It’s important that the site is easy to understand, accessible and reflects the wide range of experiences and emotions people may have when accessing support.

By taking part, you can share your views on different aspects of the designs, such as colours, imagery and overall feel. Your feedback will help us understand whether the concepts feel calm, reassuring and inclusive and whether they meet the needs of a diverse audience.

There are no right or wrong answers. We are simply interested in your honest thoughts and first impressions. Every response will help guide the next stage of development and ensure the website is shaped by the people who use it.

To access the form simply follow this link: https://orlo.uk/M6Adh

Thank you for taking the time to share your views. Your feedback will help us create a website that better supports children, young people and families when they need it most.

The Trust’s Mental Health Support Teams’ (MHST) have awarded 12 schools across Nottinghamshire with their Mentally Healthy School Award, an initiative which inspires schools to sign up to work with MHSTs and nurture a positive culture of mental wellbeing within education.

Of the 12 schools awarded to date, one school has achieved Bronze, four schools have achieved Bronze and Silver and seven schools have achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold.

The scheme encourages MHST schools to evidence how they embed mental health support into everyday practice and school life. Through a clear set of criteria and a robust review process, schools can be awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold status as a ‘Mentally Healthy School’.

One Nottinghamshire school in Rushcliffe who has achieved the Gold standard shared their inspiring journey of “Getting to Gold” at a recent MHST stakeholder event. Their powerful showcase was fully aligned with the MHST’s goals in education and demonstrated how strong collaboration between health and schools can improve outcomes for children across Nottinghamshire.

Joseph Sullivan, Mental Health Care Group Director, said: “We are incredibly proud that 12 schools in Nottinghamshire have achieved a Mentally Healthy School Award for placing mental health at the heart of school life alongside academic achievements. Achieving Bronze, Silver or Gold status reflects a school’s real commitment to creating supportive environments where children and young people feel safe and can thrive.”

MHSTs are an early intervention mental health and wellbeing service in schools aimed at providing support for children, young people and families around low-level emotional wellbeing needs, such as anxiety, low mood, managing emotions, and sleep.

This week we are shining a light on Lucy, Nursing Associate at Hopewood. Lucy has made a consistently positive impact on the ward. As a nursing associate, she plays a vital role in underpinning the high standard of clinical care provided, particularly through her excellent work on care plans and safety plans. Lucy ensures these are thorough, well considered, and regularly updated, contributing significantly to patient safety and continuity of care. She demonstrates a clear understanding of patients’ needs and risks. Lucy is reliable, proactive, and always willing to support the wider team, making her a valued and trusted colleague. Her commitment to the ward and the quality of care she helps deliver does not go unnoticed.
