Happy Lunar New Year to all our patients and staff that celebrate!!
Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar, and this year is the Year of the Horse - fun fact, horse's eyes are some of the largest of any land mammal, meaning their vision range is about 350°, with approximately 65° of this being binocular vision and the remaining 285° monocular vision!

Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science!
Did you know one of the pioneers of insulin research was Professor Dorothy Hodgkin, who transformed the lives of people with diabetes by paving the way for synthetic insulin. She's also the only British Woman to have won a Nobel Prize in science!
We also want to celebrate some amazing people in our very own team, our screeners and graders who do amazing job for our patients every day to keep your eyes healthy!

Happy Friday!!
Today we have some exciting news, that the GNDESP will soon have OCT screening, and our screeners have been getting stuck in with training! OCT machines use light waves to create cross sections of the eyes, so alongside our retinal photography, we'll be able to look at the layers of the retina and optic nerve fibres - coming to an eye screening clinic near you!
Thank you to Joe from Canon UK and Sense Medical Limited for all the expertise!
