Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities!
Over 1.3 billion people have a disability, representing 16% of the world’s population, or 1 in 6 of us. This encompasses visible and physical disabilities, learning disabilities and non-visible disabilities. This includes Down's Syndrome, amputations and loss of limbs, MS, diabetes, epilepsy, brain injuries, chronic pain or fatigue, autism, mental health conditions, hearing loss and so much more. People with Disabilities deserve respect, accessibility and agency, but still face discrimination, health inequality and exclusion from education and employment.
The theme for 2025 is fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress. To learn more and become an ally for people with disabilities, visit the links and pages below.
