This encompasses visible and physical disabilities, learning disabilities and non-visible disabilities. This includes Down's Syndrome, amputations and loss of limbs, MS, diabetes, epilepsy, brain injuries, chronic pain or fatigue, autism, mental health conditions, hearing loss and so much more. World Sight Day, observed annually on the second Thursday of October, is a global event meant to draw attention to blindness and vision impairment.

World Sight Day serves as a powerful reminder that our eyes deserve priority, not neglect. Vision is something most of us take for granted, until it begins to fade. Yet here’s a hopeful truth, according to IAPB Vision Atlas, up to 90% of sight loss is preventable or treatable with the right care, awareness and timely action.

World Sight Day 2025, is more than just a date on the calendar. It’s a global call to pause, reflect and take proactive steps toward safeguarding our vision. This year’s theme is ‘Love Your Eyes’, and it’s a reminder to put eye health at the forefront of our personal and collective well-being.
