Heart on a string...

🎨❀️🎨❀️🎨❀️🎨

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, this morning at Coppice Lodge was dedicated to creating some decorations! Residents decorated heart-shaped cards which were then strung up to be displayed. We even had some family members join in the fun!

A game for the ages!

πŸ§‘πŸ§“πŸ§‘πŸ‘΅πŸ§‘πŸ‘΅

Today Coppice Lodge had another visit from the teachers and students at Pollyteach School. Today residents joined the visitors for a game of dominoes, with residents winning 3-2-1-0 against the students. With a plan to return next week, the students may yet achieve a comeback!

Todays afternoon was filled with laughter and encouragement from our lovely residents as they played floor games - it is an activity that is always cherished and requested especially on the weekends.

It encourages skills such as eye and hand coordination, throwing and aiming but also social skills in general as each and every one of our residents have chit chatted throughout the afternoon and asked each other for tips and advice on how to successfully aim for the cones - especially Peter and John who seemed to always manage to throw a hoop onto at least one cone. Doreen unfortunately was not as successful but she's had a blast anytime the rest of the group have managed to score - it just shows just how happy our residents are to see each other thrive and succeed

We have been pretty preoccupied here at coppice lodge today with various different card games or board games taking place. We attempted to put together a puzzle with Walter, played different card games with Brenda John and Doreen and we also had our ladies on a different unit having a go at Scrabble.

All of these games are good for keeping our brains active and encouraging thinking skills and strategy skills - all of which are important at any age but especially as we get older.

While our gentlemen were busy playing darts we've had the rest of our residents get comfortable and ready to watch lovely James play a variety of songs - as you can see we have all had a great time and a lovely sing-a-long.

Live music is something we will try to include more into our program here at coppice lodge as it always receives great feedback from everyone who attends - including our hard working staff!

Yesterday afternoon we were very busy in the home playing darts with Waleys Dart Days. As always this is an activity the majority of our residents absolutely love and are looking forward to each month !

We've had a bit of a gentleman tournament with all of our women attending the live music (stay tuned for that post!) but our lovely Walter has taken the win and has a trophy to show for it πŸ†

Tuesday afternoons at Coppice Lodge are dedicated to challenging residents' cognitive skills with a variety of fun, strategy-based games! Today, we held a mini Connect 4 tournamentβ€”there were long, intense, drawn-out matches, as well as quick-paced and exciting ones. Residents cheered each other on throughout, just as cooperative as they were competitive.

Keeping moving this morning!

Today saw the return of Sophie and her seated exercises! Residents moved their bodies to upbeat music, stretching their muscles and uplifting their moods. It was a fun-filled way to spend the morning and a reminder that you're never too old to enjoy exercise.

Knock 'em down!

🎳🀾🏼🎳🀾🏼🎳🀾🏼🎳🀾🏼🎳🀾🏼🎳

We've had an eventful Saturday afternoon full of floor games that our lovely residents have thoroughly enjoyed!

It was also lovely to see them all be encouraging of each other and really build each other up even if their throws were sometimes unsuccessful. We are all friends here at Coppice Lodge!

Another musical afternoon at Coppice Lodge

🎹🎡🎹🎡🎹🎡🎹🎡🎹🎡🎹🎡🎹🎡

We've had our lovely Peter sat by our home's piano again playing his favourite tunes with the assistance of our activities coordinator. We browsed through Peter's huge selection of music sheets, had a giggle and enjoyed our afternoon.

We were later joined by Mary and Doreen who each had a request in mind for Peter and he was able to play them all! Including rub rabbit by Flanagan & Allen and somewhere over the rainbow by Judy Garland - again all Peter needed to know was the melody and he was off playing the song while our ladies sang along.

Yesterday we had a visit from Rebecca Lomas & Sophie who encouraged our residents to move their bodies while being sat in their chairs to upbeat music. The energy & good vibes they brought into our home is very visible on every resident taking part.

Who says exercise has to be boring? Moving our bodies while having fun is key here at Coppice Lodge!
