Yellow and amber weather warnings are in place across parts of the UK for the 8th and 9th of January, with forecasts indicating snow, ice, strong winds, and very low temperatures in some areas. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also extended its amber cold health alerts across England until midday on Sunday, 11th of January.

These conditions can increase risks for people who receive care at home and their Personal Assistants. As such, we encourage our clients, their families, and employees to:
- Follow Contingency and Environment Care Plans and contact their CRM if there are any issues.
- Keep warm indoors by heating living areas regularly and wearing warm layers.
- Stock up on essentials such as food, medication, and warm bedding in case travel is disrupted.
-Limit travel and avoid unnecessary trips during icy or snowy conditions.

More information on the weather warnings and cold health alerts can be found on the Met Office website.

International Men’s Day - 19th November

On November 19, International Men’s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s mental health and well-being. The theme for 2025 is “Celebrating Men and Boys”.

The three overarching core themes for International Men’s Day in the UK are used every year to help maximise participation are:

- Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
- Raising awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing
- Promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity

IMD salutes the sacrifices and strengths of men and boys and seeks to bring fairness in gender narratives.

It encourages open discussions on men’s mental health, addressing issues such as stress, su***de, and emotional vulnerability that generally receive less attention.

The day urges society to invest in initiatives for equality, non-violence, equal opportunities, and healthy familial relationships.
