All marked up, ready to go!

Did you know that 1 in 10 women grow an extra bone in their ear during pregnancy? No? Neither did I until my body decided to do it!

It’s called otosclerosis, it causes tinnitus and loss of hearing. For me I have both, the tinnitus is the worst!

Today I am having an operation to remove the extra bone, my stapes bone and put a prosthetic in. Hopefully this will make my symptoms go or at least improve them. I’ll take a small improvement right now!!

My body made a human being, I can’t really blame it for wanting to add a bit more extra bone somewhere else.

I wonder what other weird and wonderful things our bodies do during pregnancy?
