Just back from another two weeks volunteering in Poland, helping lots of lovely Polish people improve their English. What better way could you spend your time than making lots of wonderful friends and helping to improve their lives? Love it.

Thanks to the b*st*rds who drive through our lovely village, I picked up 173 cans on my litter pick this morning!

01/04/2025

The most common item I pick up when litter picking is Red Bull cans. Today I decided to count how many I collected. 87. That is 87 Red Bull cans between our house and the junction at the end of Bagworth Road (approx 600yds). 87 cans in the couple of weeks since I last went litter picking. The other alarming fact of this is that it highlights how many drivers on our roads rely on Red Bull to keep them awake whilst driving. Scary.

After waiting all summer for a "dry spell", I eventually got round to clearing the gutter that was causing so much damp on the Church. I cleared a huge blockage that had been made by birds and made a new mesh lid to hopefully stop this happening again. I then cleared all of the moss from the stonework all around the Church. In time, this should all dry out and match the rest of the stonework.

When I did my last litter pick a couple of weeks ago, I saw all these bottles of "build-up supplements" dumped in a hole in the lay-by at the Bagworth Road crossroads. On my litter pick this morning, I see that they are still there. They are full, unopened bottles. Could the Parish Council contact "Street Scene" or Highways or whoever to get them removed? There is getting quite a build of rubbish around that area of items that are either too big or too heavy for me to collect. TIA

I have been converting a loft in an old mid-terrace house. What started as a dirty, unloved space, with openings to each of the adjoining properties, housing both the cold water tanks and the hot water cylinder, has now had a new floor, insulated and boarded ceiling, water tanks enclosed, and sealed from the neighbouring houses. The ornate brick chimney is now a feature of the room, which is now a very useable space full of character.

I have recently repaired an entrance gate for an elderly lady friend. She really liked her decorative gate, so instead of buying a new one, I replaced all the rotten timber and replaced it with new. She is delighted with the result.
If you have any little jobs like this, I am always happy to help.

Installed handrail and repaired steps to help an elderly friend get around her garden.
