🚑 Let’s make sure emergency services are there for those who truly need them. Here’s what to do and not do:

Do:
- Use NHS 111 for 24/7 medical advice
- Visit your pharmacy for minor illnesses like sore throats, earaches or rashes
- Use self-referral services like physio, mental health support, and sleep help
- Seek help early to avoid worsening symptoms

Don’t:
- Go to A&E for minor conditions or non-urgent issues
- Wait until symptoms become severe before seeking help
- Use emergency services when local support is available

Let’s work together to ease pressure on our NHS and keep A&E available for life-threatening emergencies only.

Stay Well This Winter, Week 3: Keep Moving This Winter

Staying active boosts your immunity, supports mental wellbeing and helps reduce the risk of falls.

🏃‍♂️ Aim for 150 minutes a week of moderate activity (even in 10 minute chunks)
💪 Add strength exercises twice a week; gardening, carrying shopping, home workouts all help.
🧘 Improve balance with yoga, tai chi or dance
🏡 Even housework counts!

Want to get moving with others?
👉 Our Primary Care Network Activity Groups include:
• Active Sky Blues: 12 week lifestyle & exercise programme
• Seated Exercise Classes: Gentle activity and refreshments
• Walking Football: Every Friday at Jubilee Sports Centre
• Walk & Talk: Friendly weekly walks with hot drinks
• Buggy Talk: Social walks for parents with children under 4

Stay Well This Winter, Week 2: Vitamin D is Important Every Winter

During winter here in the UK, it can feel very grey and dark. There is often not enough sunlight for your body to make the vitamin D you need.

Why Vitamin D matters:
🦴 Supports healthy bones & teeth
💪 Helps maintain muscle strength (reducing fall risk)
🙂 Important for overall wellbeing

Taking daily Vitamin D supplements from October to March may help. Supplements are available in pharmacies and supermarkets. ➡️ Learn more on the NHS website: nhs.uk/conditions/vitamins-and-minerals/vitamin-d

🥘 Warm meals help: Soups, stews & casseroles keep you nourished and warm
💧 Stay hydrated: Water, herbal teas, broths and soups all count
🍓 5 a day: Fresh, frozen or tinned fruit/veg (no added salt or sugar)
🥛 Aim: For dairy or fortified alternatives daily
