Snow on the fields and ice underfoot, our rural care team is still out there working hard to support our community.

We’re incredibly proud of our carers for travelling safely and continuing to provide essential care, whatever the weather.

A gentle reminder to everyone:

• Check in regularly on vulnerable family members or neighbours

• Keep homes warm and flasks of tea on hand

• Ensure enough food, heating and essential medication

• Take extra care on icy paths and roads

• Encourage loved ones to avoid unnecessary trips where possible

Thank you to all the amazing carers out there for going the extra mile - quite literally, and to our community for looking out for one another. We see you and appreciate everything you do!

It’s the little moments that make Christmas special

A warm cuppa, a shared laugh, hanging a bauble, wrapping a gift.

Thank you to our wonderful clients for letting us be part of these moments — and to our carers for bringing kindness to every call.

Annual Hot Water Bottle Safety Reminder!

As the chilly weather settles in, it’s the perfect time for a little hot water bottle safety check to keep everyone — especially elderly or vulnerable loved ones — warm and safe.

Most people don’t realise hot water bottles have an expiry!

To check yours:

Look for the “flower symbol”

On the bottle, you’ll find a little flower-shaped wheel.

The number in the middle = the year it was made

The segments around the edge = the month

Hot water bottles usually last 2–3 years, depending on use.

If it's older, cracked, smells rubbery, or feels thin — replace it immediately.

*Help prevent burns and keep everyone comfy*

* Never use boiling water — just hot tap water.

* Fill it two-thirds full, then carefully squeeze the air out.

* Secure the stopper tightly, but don’t overtighten.

* Always use a cover or wrap it in a towel.

* Never lie directly on top — this can cause it to burst.

* Don’t use with an electric blanket at the same time.

* Check the skin regularly for anyone with delicate skin.

* Replace immediately if you see cracks, splits, or leaking.

Keeping warm should always be safe and snuggly — not risky.

Feel free to share this reminder with your loved ones!

What a beautiful frosty morning in rural Leicestershire

Cold start for our team this morning — the kind that makes your nose tingle before you’ve even shut the door behind you!

As the temperatures drop, here are a few top tips for keeping our loved ones warm and safe:

Layer up: Several light layers keep heat in better than one thick one.

Heat the home safely: Aim for at least 18°C in rooms they use often.

Warm drinks & meals: Hot fluids and regular meals help maintain body temperature.

Cozy bedding: Extra blankets, thermal throws, or an electric blanket (used safely) make a huge difference at night.

Keep moving: Gentle movement every hour or so boosts circulation.

Don’t forget extremities: Warm socks, slippers with grip, and fingerless gloves indoors can keep chills away.

Stay warm everyone — winter is definitely making its entrance!

A lovely afternoon out with our wonderful client, Valerie Jennings

A wander around the garden centre, followed by a spot of lunch — good food, good company, and lots of smiles.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom.

Their courage, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten.

Here in our rural communities, the silence of the countryside reminds us how deeply their legacy still echoes — in every field, every family, and every moment of peace we enjoy.

We honour them.

We thank them.

We remember them.

Lest we forget. ❤️
