A health and well-being check for older adults is a supportive check-in to understand how someone is really managing at home. It looks at both physical health and emotional wellbeing, helping to make sure everyday needs are being met safely and comfortably.

These checks can include a review of medical conditions, medication, nutrition, mobility, vision and hearing, mental health and social connection. The aim is to notice small changes early, reduce risks, and offer guidance or extra support before concerns grow.

Some people fall into care.

Others have it in them from the very beginning 💛

Joan’s story is one of those.

As a young girl, she helped care for her younger sister, encouraging her, supporting her, and reminding her that being different was something to be proud of.

Years later, after studying for a career in finance, she realised something wasn’t quite right.

“I was never happy,” she said.

So she made a brave decision and started again, training as a Care Professional and learning everything she could.

Today, Joan is our Learning and Development Training Manager, supporting new Care Professionals as they join us and helping them feel confident, capable and supported from day one.

Getting active does not have to mean pushing yourself. Gentle stretching can help you stay mobile and feel more comfortable, even from a chair or bed.

Try pointing and flexing your toes, lifting one leg at a time, or slowly straightening and bending your knees. A gentle stretch through the back while seated can also help ease stiffness.
