Oakham Grange hosted our annual Community Infection Prevention and Control Service Inspection this week. This is an external audit, completed by the Leicestershire County Council Infection Control Team. They look at three key areas - Environmental Cleanliness, IPC Practice, and Governance and Care Planning.

Not happy with last years score of 99%, our fantastic housekeeping and laundry team have scored 100% in this years inspection.

The audit result provides us with reassurances that our own Infection Prevention and Control systems, our processes and practices, and the governance that takes place across all areas exceeds the expected standard - and the team should absolutely be commended on their hard work to maintain the quality of cleanliness and care provided to our residents.

End of life care can be a very difficult subject to talk about. Our care and nursing team know that we only have one chance to get it right and to read this in the Rutland Times today just goes to show the care and compassion that comes naturally to them. We are so proud of our teams and the work that they do to give our residents the best, through every step of their journey here.

Activities are at the heart of what we do here at Oakham Grange and we are looking for some new and exciting ideas to add to our busy schedule. Do you have a PAT dog? Are you a in a band? Do you run a cub/scout/brownie group? Do you play the piano? Please get in touch with our activities team or pop in and see us. We are planning our Christmas bookings as we speak.

Medical Students Irene and Pragya from the Leicester Medical school University of Leicester joined our Dr Thorpe from Empingham Medical Centre for the weekly ward round today.
We are pleased to welcome them to experience how a good care home operates from a GP perspective and share best practices with them.
Having an enhanced GP agreement means that we have a named GP who really gets to know our residents.

A huge thank you to one of our families for the gifts and cards for all the staff who looked after their loved one on one of our households. The chocolates are always well received but personalised cards and notes are treasured by us all.

The Dance Studios Oakham closed the day with several fantastically elegant performances. Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with us and we are hoping to get to see another performance later on in the year. Thank you also to teacher Maxine for bringing this all together during your summer break!
