Today, the Argyll Wellbeing Hub closes its doors for the final time after 7½ years of serving our community in Oban and across Argyll.
What we built together was so much more than a building or a service — it was a safe space, a listening ear, and a lifeline for so many people when they needed it most.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers who have given their time, compassion, and energy over the years. Your kindness and commitment have made a real and lasting difference in people’s lives.
A very special thank you to our peer support volunteers — Lena, Sophie, Sarah, Mark, Andy, Alan and Scotty, — whose empathy, courage, and willingness to walk alongside others helped so many through difficult times. What you gave cannot be measured.
Thank you also to our trustee board — David, JJ, Alan, Jane, Hannah and Jamie — for your guidance, belief, and support in steering the Hub and standing behind the vision.
And the biggest thank you of all goes to Lorraine, who has volunteered and worked for the Hub since day one. Your dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment have been at the heart of everything we achieved. The Hub simply would not have been what it was without you.
Finally, thank you to everyone who supported me through these years. Together, we built something extraordinary — something rooted in care, dignity, and hope. While this chapter comes to an end, the impact of the Argyll Wellbeing Hub will live on in the lives it touched and the community it strengthened.
With gratitude and pride 💙
Thank you all Des
