Made-Well is a not-for-profit community interest company providing a safe and welcoming place for all! We are open to the public. There is no entrance fee.

Based just outside of Hatherleigh, nr Okehampton, we offer enabling opportunities for adults and young people as well as public events and activities! Made-Well is a not-for-profit community interest company established in August 2007 which provides positive and purposeful opportunities. We reach out to all people, especially those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities mental illness and loneliness. Our site is family & dog friendly and wheelchair accessible. We have an inclusive playground, Changing Places toilet, animals and gardens. The services that Made-Well offers include:

- Support and enabling for young people and adults with a learning & / or physical disability or mental health condition, in a group or on a 1-1 basis. A range of sessions including farm and sheep work, animal care, café, woodwork, horticulture, life skills, cooking, arts and crafts, music, maintenance, day trips, community events and activities, sports and exercise, market days, supported employment opportunities and supported holidays. We offer a free taster day. To arrange a visit, please email visits@made-well.co.uk

- Pony therapy sessions, 1:1 or small group. Please contact animalteam@made-well.co.uk to book.

- Animal Club every Saturday, for all ages and abilities. Fun for the whole family or come on your own and meet others who enjoy spending time with animals. Please see our website for further information and to book (or pay in our cafe).

- Need a venue? We have facilities to hire including our sensory room and the Pebble (with kitchen facilities). We cater for birthday parties. Please see our website for further information.

- Party and Therapy Ponies: we come to you! Our Shetland ponies can come to your special occasion. Please contact animalteam@made-well.co.uk for a quote.

- Educational visits for schools and community groups. To arrange a visit, please email visits@made-well.co.uk

🐢OLLIE AT MADE-WELL🐢

Ollie has the kindest soul, which you can see here Ernie the Tortoise was drawn to! Tortoises don't form bonds in the same way cats and dogs do, but as quite nervous creatures they are attracted to people who offer soft touches and friendly demeanours. Ollie was able to meet these needs to enjoy a lovely hug with our resident shelly friend! 🤗

We are so proud of how brilliant Ollie was with Ernie, and both of them came away from the interaction feeling very happy! 😄

🚨PLEASE NOTE: TEEN TIME AND PARENT CARER SUPPORT GROUP ARE NOT ON THIS WEEK AND WILL RETURN NEXT THURSDAY, 26TH FEBRUARY

But - if you'd like to see what we usually have on offer on Thursdays here at Made-Well, take a look! 👀

Parent/Carer Support Group runs as a drop in from 10:30-12:30 each Thursday, offering a safe space for chats about the highs and lows of being a parent and/or carer. Emma Martin, our fantastic and experienced facilitator, is able to bring advice and expertise on a variety of subjects including funding, wellbeing, assessments and signposting services. Children are more than welcome, too! 😁 There is no need to book, just show up whenever suits you 👌

Teen Time is a six week pilot running from 1pm-3pm, aimed at teens struggling to engage in education who need a boost in their confidence and engagement. Each week, Emma will introduce new activities to encourage team-work and independent growth, whilst also providing a fun and safe environment to work through personal struggles and barriers 💪💗 To ensure the Teen Time group remains small and tailored to the needs of attendees, we ask that you book in by emailing madewellhub@gmail.com 💻

Theatre Mondays at Made-Well were in full swing today, with the xylophones out to experiment with sounds that might work for the Fairy Godmother in our production of Cinderella!🎶🧚‍♀️

Over the next several weeks, people we support will be offered opportunities to work towards a common goal: making a short film based on Cinderella that shows off the fun we have here at Made-Well! From those who enjoy working with our animals, to painting sets and making props, to acting or playing music, there will be lots of ways to get involved! 👠🐁👑

Keep an eye out for more updates as we progress through the process! 👀🎭

🌱 SEND Wellbeing Hub @ Made-Well – Tomorrow (Thursday 12 February) 🌱

Our SEND Wellbeing Hub is running tomorrow supporting parents/carers in the morning and young people in the afternoon 💚

✨ Parent & Carer Support Group (10:30am–12:30pm)
A relaxed drop-in space for parents and carers of children and young people with SEND.
Come for a cuppa, a chat, peer support, advice and signposting around SEND, education, wellbeing and navigating services.
Facilitated by Emma Martin, parent and SEN specialist with over 25 years’ experience.

✨ Teen Time (1–3pm)
A small, friendly group session for teens who are struggling with school attendance (including EBSA / SEND).
Low-pressure activities, games and light structured activities focused on confidence, connection and having fun together.

👉 Teen Time is a group session (not 1:1) and runs as part of a 6-week pilot.
👉 Please let us know in advance if you’re thinking of coming along so we can check availability.

📣 Please note: due to staff holiday, the SEND Wellbeing Hub will not be running on Thursday 19 February.
