Aberdeen Linking Lives, our befriending service that tackles loneliness and social isolation is a finalist at the upcoming Celebrate Aberdeen Awards under Community Impact.

We are grateful to our Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers for the great work wrestling persons from the grip of loneliness and social isolation in the North East of Scotland.

Our deep appreciation goes to our funders, sponsors, donors, and partners etc. enable us collaborate to rescue the lonely and socially isolated. Since our launch in 2019, we’ve delivered over 19,000 hours of befriending. But what we offer is far more than time, it’s presence, consistency, and care. Not only do we reduce pressure on already overburdened health services, but we restore mental well-being while rebuilding a sense of identity and self-worth that isolation often strips away. One service user recently told us, “I really appreciate your call. You’re the first person I’ve spoken to all week.” Another shared, “I no longer feel anxious when my phone rings, because I know it’s likely my volunteer befriender.” Families tell us their loved ones smile again. They feel less anxious. They cook meals, take walks, laugh. They begin to re-engage with life.

To the Celebrate Aberdeen team and the wonderful judges, thank you for this great recognition.

We can’t wait for the 1st of November, the awards ceremony.

Warm Wishes for the Season from our CEO Dr Olushola Ajide

As 2023 draws to a close, we at The Bridge (SC050930) wish to express and extend our sincere gratitude for your support this year.

Your contributions, participation, and partnerships enabled us to increase the number of people we serve across the North East of Scotland.

We are optimistic doing more in the new year.

Wishing you and yours a holiday season filled with love, peace, joy and a well-deserved rest.

We are grateful for your support in tackling loneliness, unemployment, health education for minority ethnic groups and integration of ex-prisoners.

Kindly note that while our offices are closed for the holidays, to reopen on January 4th 2024, our phone lines and email (thebridgescotland@gmail.com) remain active to continue providing you support you may need throughout the season.
