As the Covid restrictions have changed throughout most of the UK today, we wanted to let you know how it will impact visiting at Beechcroft.

Attached is the government guidance on care home visiting and we wanted you let you know that for the time-being, we are asking visitors to do as they’ve done for the last few weeks, which is:

* Phone ahead of your visit so that we know you’re coming
* Produce a negative lateral flow test on the day you come, at home or on arrival at the home.
* We’re also asking that visitors, like staff, continue to wear a mask at all times whilst in the building.
* If you are feeling unwell with Covid like symptoms, please do not come to the Home.

We appreciate that this is no longer the law, but we know that these mitigations help protect our residents.

We will still be using out secure visiting booth if you feel you would rather not come inside the building or in the event of an outbreak,

If we were to have an outbreak of Covid In the home, (more than 3 staff or residents testing positive at any one time), essential care givers are still allowed to visit the home freely as before.

We will keep these measures under regular review and update you accordingly.

We thank you for your continued support and understanding and want to reassure you that keeping our residents physically and emotionally safe continues to be our number one priority.

Our lovely Bhupindar was a BBC Radio Leicester presenter in her younger years and was a bit of a celebrity in her community and beyond.
Bhupindar’s daughter, Rupindar, has written about her mum’s role on the radio and her interview with Lata Mangeshkar, a famous Indian playback singer who sadly died today.
Thank you Rupindar! 🙏🏻

BBC RADIO LEICESTER - my mother, Bhupindar Kaur Atwal applied to be a broadcaster on the “Milan” Programme in 1975. Her application was successful and she used to host the programme in Hindi with an audience that would write to her requesting to play Indian Bollywood songs dedicated to someone special every Tuesday evening until 1981. I think she was the first Indian female Hindi broadcaster in the UK! During that time she interviewed many Bollywood stars including LATA MANGESHKAR. I’m sad to hear that India’s legendary playback singer has died age 92. Colleagues in India are telling me that TV and Radio channels are continuously playing her songs and there will be 2 days of National Mourning. My mother interviewed Lata in June 1980 and apparently Lata commented on my Mum’s Hindi 🙂. I do recall seeing Lata in concert probably in the De Montfort Hall, Leicester. We have a lot of Vinyls as my mum prepared for the Programme choosing the soundtracks to play many featuring Lata. Happy memories 🙂

You may have heard on the news that visiting in care homes is to be relaxed from Monday 31st January (see attached press release) and we wanted to let you know that we are still awaiting government guidelines for it.

Please rest assured that whilst the number of visitors may be unlimited, the safety of our residents, staff and visitors will remain our priority. We will still be asking everyone coming into the home to produce a negative lateral flow test and wear a mask and we will let you know about any other measures as soon as we can.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support.

Restrictions in place to prevent the spread of Omicron in adult social care will be eased following the success of the booster roll-out.
