The aim is to support people on their personal journey towards a meaningful and satisfying life, where hope, opportunity and choice are the key elements. The college aims to help people to become experts in their own self-care, and enable family, friend

s, carers and staff to better understand mental health so that they can best help people towards recovery. Courses are co-produced with users, carers and professionals working in partnership.

Introducing a new course at The Recovery College..

START (STrATegies for Relatives) supports carers and family members of people with dementia.

In this course you will
- Learn skills to cope with behaviours related to your relative's memory problems
- Help you learn about Dementia specific to the individual you care for
- Develop skills to help you, including changing unhelpful thoughts, communication, assertiveness and pleasant activities
- Plan for you and your relatives future needs

This course is in collaboration and will be delivered by Admiral Nurses
