Important! Changes to the Autism / Social Communication Pathway across Greater Manchester.
The new process will involve screening people on the waiting list for NHS Autism / ADHD assessment and determining whether they will still be eligible. Some people may no longer be offered an assessment. Right to Choose assessments are also affected:
"New non-urgent ADHD and autism (ASD) assessment bookings with right to choose providers are being temporarily held back. This means patients will have to wait longer and this applies to all referrals"
The concern is that many children, young people and adults will slip through the net; those who are doing "okay" at school, young people who do well in exams, adults who can hold down a job.
What about children who cope academically, but struggle to make friends? Or the adult who does not get reasonable adjustments to cope with the sensory environment at work? How about the young person who is burnt-out and overwhelmed?
We want you to feel listened to and understood, to have the rights afforded to people who will be offered a diagnostic assessment by the NHS.
Our team of experienced, neuroaffirmative clinicians are ready to support you and your family with Autism assessments that are respectful, strengths‑based, and grounded in lived experience.
Our assessments follow NICE guidelines and all our clinicians are registered with a governing body, such as the HCPC.
