3 unpopular but realistic perspectives on birth:

1. A pain-free birth is rare.
2. Your birth plan will most likely need adapting.
3. Tearing and episiotomy are very common.

But if you expect this and arm yourself with a poweful mindset and coping mechanisms, whose to say you won't be able to cope?

I know how much effort you'll put into preparing the baby's nursery. Paint colours and the aesthetics. Damn it- i know the hours you'll have put into the

It's just what we do- we imagine the future- from the moment we decide we want a baby. And this room becomes our focus, the outpouring of love before we even get to meet them.

But when I say this, I say it with love (and from experience)- the baby won't care what colour their room is. All they care about is YOU.

And if you think you should prepare for birth- INVEST IN YOU- I say absolutely. Birth prep for you and your partner can contribute to the memories of the VERY MOMENT you get to meet your baby. Whilst it can't physically prevent birth trauma, it can certainly arm you with knowledge that can help you feel safe and calm. It can allow you to advocate for your needs and feel listened to. It is worth EVERY PENNY.

So whilst your nesting instinct might have you painting everything in sight, remember to research a good (preferably ours 🤭). And if the budget means you have to choose between a nursery and , the baby won't sleep in their own room for at least the first 6 months... 🫠🤯🙈

When we get baby news, we are always so incredibly proud of our parents. They navigated meeting their baby and did it with unbeliavable strength.

We often get thanked for helping- but really, all we share is information and how to find reliable resources. We talk about how to change your mindset during birth and practical tips and techniques.

It's the parents that take all that information and run with it. They put in the practise and pack the bags. They advocate for their needs on the day. They work as a team to become a family ❤️

So I collect these names- not to show how well we have done, but to show just how amazing the parents coped with this HUGE rite of passage. It really astounds me everytime.

If your baby is due in February-April 2026 and you are based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire or Northants- come join us for FULL ANTENATAL PREPARATION.

We are in-person classes every Monday evening across February (2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd) in Olney. We run for 2.5 hours, so that we can cram in as much a possible- but don't worry, you'll get snacks.

Calling all cutie patooties bebes. Does your mum need a hot drink and some time to speak to another adult? We thought so.

Bring her along to our mum-meet...

A very relaxed meet with the chance to grab a coffee and breakfast (which we all know can get forgotten amidst the nappy changes and feeding).

Drop-in for the whole time or just whenever you can make it. Bring a friend or come alone (we are a friendly bunch, I promise!) Thursday 22nd January @ 10.30AM-12.30PM. We will be upstairs in the event space at The Cafe at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes.

Whether you are practising getting out of the house for the first time or this isn't your first rodeo... there's a space for you at our table. You don't have to have completed one of our courses to attend, but we welcome our Hypno-bebes back too for a snuggle.

🩵It's essential that you have an understanding of what hypnobirthing can do before you invest in ANY course (not just ours).

That's it. We are out of hibernation and starting the year with a bang. ..
🍬 Absolutely not. We are still living out of a celebration tin and hunkered down, not really knowing what day it is. ..

How Our Clients See Us

🦁 Lioness: we can be nurturing and lovely. But if anyone threatens our pride (including our birthers) we can be a bit fierce.

🏠 Cosy home: we love a nap. We are homebodies. Unobserved and snuggled up is where we feel best. And that's where we recommend our birthers stay for as long as possible during labour.

🌹 The rose: ok, so a bit of a stereotype, but the rose is associated with romance and love. And we are big proponents of OXYTOCIN. In our classes we talk about what you can do to support your birth bouquet of hormones. It was either this or an aubergine plant 😉

🔥 Lorelai Gilmore: a firm but fair approach to life, with a few wardrobe malfunctions and chaotic mistakes thrown in for good measure.

🎄Winter (but mainly Christmas): we are suckers for all the twinkly lights and put a lot of effort into the behind-the-scenes magic.

😂 Laughing: always laughing. Giggling like the school girls we were when we first met. Seeing humour in the messiness of life and birth, whilst raising tiny grubs we call children.

🍰 Tunnock teacakes: because chocolate and biscuit. And that glorious fluffy white stuff. These are always snaffled first at our classes. So grab yours QUICK.

✨ Shiny gold: anything sequinned and we're in love. We love shiny things in general.

🫖 Tea: always tea. Lady Grey preferably. Earl Grey if we must...

Katie talks about the moment the midwife had to kick the chair to wake her husband up before baby came a lot sooner than expected. I laugh about how I demanded an almond croissant, a hot chocolate and a banana for my breakfast, even though I could only take a bite and a sip. (PLEASE SHARE YOUR LAUGHABLE BIRTH MOMENTS in the comments!)

Katie and I haven't had perfect births. But that's not to say that we didn't find them powerful, exciting and beautiful.

Antenatal education MUST be realistic. Walking the line between toxic positivity and fear mongering.

We were left in awe at the strength of our bodies.
We felt supported by our birth partners, who knew how to support our physiology.
We knew how to stay calm or reset with our hypnobirthing techniques.

But we also prepared for if our plans had to change. We knew how to make informed choices and do evidence-based research. We learnt medical terminology.

But amongst all the realism, there are definitely moments we laugh about. We want to help you prepare for birth so that you get to smile whilst you retell your birth story too.
