The annual cost of employee sickness has risen to £103 billion a year, a new report has revealed. Employers must focus on mental health to prevent their staff facing extreme pressures and burnout.

This includes offering access to counselling - but also involves tackling issues such as unreasonable workloads, low pay and unsafe working practices.

BodhiSpace Ltd. held our third and final CPD event for 2022 last Saturday, 12th November.

The interactive workshop - titled "From Disorder to Diversity...and Beyond!" - was facilitated by Emma Alabaster and Judy Knight.

Emma and Judy drew upon their collective 25 years' experience as therapists, sharing examples from their professional and personal experiences and aiming to debunk some of the myths and fears around working with this particular client group.

The workshop encouraged therapists and counsellors to look beyond the medical model and reconsider the definition of neurodiversity.

BodhiSpace held it's second successful CPD event of the year last Saturday, 24th September. This time, Integrative Therapist Kate O'Donnell delivered a presentation/workshop focussing on working with addiction.

Kate talked about her personal experience as well as her client work in different aspects of addiction. She looked at the 12 step model and reflected on the ethos of this method.

The workshop conceptualized addiction as a ‘family illness’ and offered an understanding of how shame dynamics can play a big part in the therapeutic recovery of clients presenting with addiction.

There was also the opportunity to use creative techniques to explore addiction and one's relationship with it.

The presentation was attended by therapists from both within and outside of the BodhiSpace team and was very well received. Thank you, Kate!

Our next CPD event is on 12th November and will be on neurodiversity.

Last Saturday - 11th June - at BodhiSpace in Olney, we held our first CPD workshop/event of 2022.

Called "Working Creatively With Fabrics", the event was presented by Liz Miller and Roshmi Lovatt and was attended by many of the BodhiSpace family of therapists and counsellors as well as therapy dog, Harper.
