Today we paused to pay our respects this Remembrance Day, laying a wreath in honour of those who gave so much.
As we remember the courage and sacrifice of the wartime generation, we also reflect on the everyday acts of resilience that carried people through, from the battlefields to the back gardens. “Digging for Victory” was more than a slogan; it was a lifeline, reminding us that growing your own food was an act of strength, hope, and unity in the face of hardship.
We shall remember not only the bravery of those who served, but also the spirit of resourcefulness and community that sustained a nation. Their legacy lives on in the way we honour them today, and in the values we carry forward.
We will remember them.
