Here are some top tips to keep your eyes healthy and sight as crisp as can be!

👁 Get your eyes tested regularly

👁 Safety first - wear sunglasses, avoid tanning sunbeds, and make sure to wear protective eyewear for sports, DIY and gardening

👁 Limit screentime, pause and look away from your screen regularly

👁 Eat healthily, get active, and avoid smoking

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Mr Johnny McLaughlin MBE. A neighbour of ours here in George's Street, he was a former councillor, and friend and advisor to many many local people. A true gentleman who will be sorely missed, we extend deepest condolences to his wife Olive, children, grandchildren and numerous friends. RIP Johnny. George's Street just won't be the same

It was so lovely to host the children and staff of Rainbow Community Playgroup recently. The children learned the importance of looking after your eyes and had a go at some of the eye checks performed during a routine eye test.

Some top tips-

👁Get your child's eyes tested regularly, ideally before they start school, as over 80% of learning is visual, and they don't know to complain of poor sight- what they see is normal to them
👁 Children don't have to be able to read or recognise letters in order to have a sight test
👁 Limit their screen time
👁 Research shows that plenty of outdoors time (vit D and not focussing up close) can limit short sightedness
