Fight. Flight. Freeze.
These aren’t choices — they’re automatic responses of the sympathetic nervous system when we perceive threat.
In this video, one cat goes into fight (screaming, posturing), while the other goes into freeze — becoming still, quiet, almost invisible.
What many people don’t realize is that humans can live in these states for months or years.
An abusive relationship.
A bullying or unpredictable boss.
Growing up in constant tension.
Never knowing when the next outburst is coming.
Last week, for different reasons, I spoke to three people about the sympathetic response — and it struck me how often people are living in survival mode without even knowing it.
When the nervous system stays “on” for too long, the body and mind adapt to stress as normal.
That’s when exhaustion, anxiety, numbness, chronic tension, or feeling stuck can appear.
This is where homeopathy can be incredibly supportive — not as a quick fix, but as a way to help the system release, regain clarity, and find the internal resources to recover and/or take action to leave an unhealthy situation.
Because no one is meant to live their life in fight, flight, or freeze.
