I haven’t watched Eastenders in years but got tagged & PM’d so much, I thought I’d accidentally been in it 🤣 Thank you all 💞
They’d clearly done some research with this episode ‘The one where now 50yo Honey asked the (“ barely 30yo”) female GP for HRT’
And got a 💩show of advice & a complete lack of empathy, listening skills or educated support
And sadly, it didn’t duff duff the shock out of me at all, because I hear accounts like this All The Damn Time!
GP training on menopause is discretionary. It’s a CPD module they can choose to take. Or not 😳
They’re busy, we know that. They only have 10 mins per appt. We know that too.
We also know that women are 50% of the population and the primary care givers to the other 50%
When we’re well & cared for, everyone around us benefits
Partners
Families
Friends
Colleagues
Employers
When we have a ‘system glitch’ between the ages of 35-65 and we’re not supported;
All of the above can all fall down. All of it.
We’re not doing this to ourselves, it’s biology, it’s nature and it can be horrendous to the point of women leaving established careers, divorcing their husbands and taking their own lives
Well done the BBC for giving this some air time but it’s not their job - or gift - to make the changes in care that should be mandatory, not a choice.
I have some new info & support sessions starting 7th May, in Wakefield, with the fabulous The Art House Wakefield - as soon as the booking link goes live I’ll share it here 😘
