Be honest…
How many times have you quit at week 3 or 4?

Not just a diet.
That new training plan.
That circuit class.
Less screen time.
Cold plunges!!

Comment “ME” if that’s you.

Now imagine not having to restart again.

That’s what Pillars provides.
Your own toolbox.
Where we gradually build the foundations needed for long-term change.

No crash.
No reset.
No “starting Monday” again.

Just structure, awareness, and habits that actually hold.

This is the power of a community and showing up even when it feels like everything is against you.

Anxiety means you care.
Before my fell race last weekend, the excuses were ready:

Not prepared, too weak
Too busy building Pillars
Should be spending time with my family

It all sounded sensible. It was just fear.
The feeling before a race is the same as before a hard conversation, an exam, or a presentation.
Anxiety shows up when something matters

I even messaged my clients and told them I was struggling. Because that was is what our community is for (support) and leadership isn’t pretending you’re fearless.
It’s modelling what leaning in actually looks like.
At Pillars, we don’t run from discomfort. We explore it.

If you feel anxious this week, don’t label it as weakness.
It might just mean you care.
Go towards it.

If you’re feeling lost or anxious reach out today, and let’s explore how Pillars can support you and your health and fitness goals.

I see this all the time in the gym…

People starting out on their health journeys excited and motivated, until reality hits and juggling it all becomes too much.

If you have been there or are a busy professional, parent or business owner struggling to lose weight, get healthier and stay consistent, you are not alone.
Because trying to add gym sessions, new meal plans, apps and cooking styles into an already busy life can feel daunting and sometimes even impossible.

Especially because sustainable weight loss isn’t about spending hours in the gym - it’s about what happens in the other 23 hours of your day.

That’s where the right support makes the difference, and why at Pillars we focus on:
✨ Awareness around habits
✨ Accountability that fits your lifestyle
✨ Support with realistic nutrition
✨ Simple fat loss strategies for busy people
✨ Sustainable health, not quick fixes

I help busy people in Oswestry, Shropshire and worldwide lose weight, build healthy routines and feel confident in their bodies without extreme dieting or burnout.

If this sounds like you, it might be time for support.

And I know that for so many people, the gym can feel like a big step. Even walking through the doors takes courage.

And reaching out for help with your nutrition or health can feel even more intimidating.

Which is why Pillars exists and why our team, our community can reach out so you don’t have to.

Don’t give up on your 2026 goals… let Pillars help you.

I’ve seen this time and time again — from spending years around gyms to now co-owning People don’t quit because they don’t care.
They quit because life gets complicated, and we overreach what’s actually achievable.

The real magic isn’t what happens in the gym. It’s what you do outside it. The other 23 hours of the day are what make the biggest impact on your 2026 goals — and that’s where Pillars Nutrition can really help.
Progress doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from awareness, accountability and support.

If you want to explore working together, there’s a relaxed enquiry form that takes under a minute.
No sales pitch. Just a first step.

Micronutrient gaps are far more common than people realise — even in diets that look “healthy” on the surface.

At Pillars Nutrition, we use Cronometer Gold, fully customised for our clients, to look beyond calories and macros and understand what the body is actually getting over time.

It’s not just about logging food. Cronometer acts as an energy-balance companion, helping us track nutrients, habits, recovery, and stress markers day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month — so decisions are based on data, not guesswork.

This is how awareness becomes consistency, and consistency becomes lasting change.

👇 Cronometer’s post explains this perfectly.

One of the biggest health upgrades I made in 2025 surprised me.

It wasn’t a new training plan 📆
It wasn’t more sessions 😭
It wasn’t pushing harder 😤

It was wearing a weighted vest — mostly during everyday walks.

Here are the five biggest wins I noticed — and none of them required more training time:

1️⃣ More return from walking (without more time) 🚶
Same steps. Same time. More stimulus.

2️⃣ Better posture & core awareness 💭
You can’t switch off — your body adapts quickly and naturally.

3️⃣ Joint-friendly loading 🩻
No impact. No pounding. Just controlled, progressive load.

4️⃣ Mental resilience 🧠
Easy things feel slightly harder — and that carries over into training and life.

5️⃣ Ageing well (long-term health) 🩺
Maintaining load tolerance as we get older isn’t optional — it’s protective.

This is a typical recommendation I make with Pillars Nutrition clients through our private Pillars Community App, depending on their goals, health, and lifestyle.

💬 Have you ever considered adding load to walking — or does it feel like too much?

💡Sometimes the smartest changes are the simplest ones.

Over the last year, I’ve made a conscious effort to capture more audio and video of the people closest to me — particularly my dad.

It’s been 20 years since I lost my mum, and sadly, I don’t have a single recording of her voice or a video of her.
No laugh. No stories.
Just pictures & memories.

And that still hits hard.

With the technology we have now — and what we’ll be able to do with it in the future — I didn’t want to repeat that mistake.

So I’ve started capturing small, ordinary moments with my dad.
Short videos.
Voice notes.
Conversations that would otherwise drift away.

Nothing polished.
Nothing for social media.

Just moments I’ll be grateful for one day.
Just moments, I’ll be grateful for one day.

The more I’ve worked with clients this year, the more I’ve come to understand the challenges people are facing.

I’ll be honest — I used to be quite black and white in my thinking.
Do the work. Be consistent. Stick to the plan.

But people aren’t that simple.

Over time, I’ve learned how much noise there is around food, calories, movement, lifting, and “doing it right”.
How overwhelming it can feel.
How easily confidence and control can slip away.

A lot of the struggle isn’t laziness or lack of effort.
It’s confusion. It’s pressure.
It’s trying to juggle life, stress, work, family — and still make “perfect” choices.

And that’s why I want to put this out there:

Pillars Nutrition is here to help knock down those barriers.

To help you take back control.
To build awareness without judgment.
To understand energy balance in a way that actually makes sense for your life.
To make movement, strength, and nutrition feel supportive — not punishing.

That’s exactly why Pillars Nutrition exists.

Progress doesn’t come from doing everything right.
It comes from awareness, consistency, and learning to work with yourself—not against yourself.

Please don't wait until January or until Monday when you are back at work. Click the link below, and let's talk it through ❤️

Mr Gears cooking Christmas breakfast has quietly become a bit of a tradition over the years 🎄🍳

Nothing fancy — just eggs, slowly cooked in butter with garlic and a quarter of an onion. Simple, comforting, and exactly how Christmas morning should feel.

Jacq loves her bread, and finding a decent loaf without preservatives or emulsifiers is challenging, more so when you are on a budget.
I’m more of a wraps person myself, and I love the Crosta Mollica durum wheat flatbreads — just four ingredients: wheat, water, extra virgin olive oil, and salt.

Hot, dry-fried in the pan, the flatbreads release their oil and crisp up beautifully. His & hers Christmas breakfast, done right ❤️

Merry Xmas everyone 🎄

I’ve always struggled with taking photos of myself — and there’s a reason for that.

I was born with two strawberry birthmarks: one in the centre of my forehead and another on my left cheek. Growing up in the 80s, having something that was visible taught me early how unkind kids can be.

Add naturally rosy cheeks into the mix, and I’ve spent much of my life feeling self-conscious about how I look — especially when presenting, being photographed, or putting myself “out there”.
It’s taken a lot of self-awareness and work over the years.

I love interacting with people. I love talking. I love coaching.
But promoting myself has always been hard.

I love promoting Pillars — the values, the process, the support — just not the person behind it.

Right now I’m building a new website and learning how it can act as a portal into our Pillars Nutrition app. It’s made me reflect on how lucky we are to live in a time where technology and support can genuinely help people — if we’re willing to be visible.

This photo hasn’t been edited.
And if you look closely, you’ll see the scar on my forehead — the first thing I notice every time I look in the mirror, even though most people never do.

That’s really connected with my coaching recently. I work with clients who struggle to look in the mirror while training. I ask them to look for posture, form, strength — yet I realised I’ve spent years looking and seeing only flaws.

Still learning.
Still building.
Still showing up.
