Itâs been a wet old month so far hasnât it! It can be easy to focus on this - on the dark nights and wet days.
Hereâs so@e good news for you though, weâre now half way between the winter solstice and spring equinox and the sun is finally setting after 5 oâclock and rising before 8am.
Brighter days are on the horizon my friends. Until then, February offers many an opportunity for joy. Not necessarily giddy heights but, simple joys, small joys, pleasure in the seemingly unspectacular things that are happening, daily, without fanfare or observation.
Snowdrops, daffodils, the returning of migrating birds, increased birdsong - blackbirds, robins, song thrushes, wrensâŚ
Thereâs also Pancake Day - Tuesday 17th! CrĂŞpes or American style? Whatâs your favourite topping? For me itâs delicate crĂŞpes with classic cinnamon sugar and lemon juiceâŚor berry jam and sour cream đ Sometimes, when Iâm feeling especially enthused I make a whole dinner of savoury (cheese and spinach with mushrooms or ham) and dessert crĂŞpes!
Valentineâs Day can be a bit Marmite, but however you feel about it, why not make February a month of love â¤ď¸ Give someone a compliment, tell a friend how grateful you are for them, phone a loved one, go on a solo date and romance yourself!, leave a kind note in a library book or on the mirrors in cafe cafe loo! âYouâre amazing! Keep going đâ
February has a lot to offer, sometimes we just have to look a little harder and make time to notice.
