Science-backed. Zero downtime. Long-lasting results.
If you want to look fresh, polished and luminous for New Year’s Eve — without falling for quick fixes — here are two treatments that deliver real, proven results and fit straight into a busy diary:

✔ Results get better over the next 1–2 weeks
Perfect for: looking radiant for NYE and improving skin health long-term.

2. SkinPen Microneedling
The collagen-building essential
A long-term investment in smoother, firmer, more refined skin.
Why it works:
✔ Stimulates new collagen + elastin
✔ Improves texture, fine lines + scars
✔ Minimal downtime (24–48 hours of light redness)

Does hydrating the skin (especially the dermis) make CO₂ laser more effective?
Partially true in theory — but not yet strongly proven in studies.
Why the idea makes sense
CO₂ lasers target water molecules.
More hydrated skin → more water in the dermis → potentially:
* More predictable laser-tissue interaction
* Smoother ablation
* Better thermal coagulation zone
* More uniform collagen remodeling
This concept is sometimes referred to as “preconditioning” the skin.
We love .skin polynucleotides, exosomes and skinboosters such as redensity 1 to pre-load the skin before laser.

BUT:
Laser-tissue interaction is complex, and dermal hydration alone is not the only factor that governs efficacy.
The biggest determinants are:
* Laser settings (fluence, density, pulse duration)
* Operator skill
* Skin thickness
* Healing capacity
So yes, hydration does help—but it’s a combination approach and a long game.

A 1570 nm erbium:glass laser is a non-ablative laser used in cosmetic dermatology for skin rejuvenation, primarily by stimulating collagen production to reduce wrinkles and tighten skin. This technology penetrates the dermis to heat the tissue, triggering the body’s natural healing process without significantly damaging the epidermis, which leads to minimal downtime compared to ablative lasers. It is used to treat conditions like fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and skin laxity.

How it works
* Non-ablative: The laser heats the deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) but leaves the surface (epidermis) intact.
* Collagen stimulation: This thermal effect triggers the production of new collagen and elastin, which improves skin texture and tone over time.
* Minimal downtime: Because the epidermis is not damaged, there is less risk of side effects, and patients experience minimal recovery time.
* Dual-wavelength use: The 1570 nm laser is often used in combination with other lasers, such as a CO2 laser, to provide comprehensive skin resurfacing with reduced downtime and enhanced results.

Common applications
* Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
* Improving skin texture and tone
* Tightening and firming loose skin
* Minimizing the appearance of acne scars
* Treating stretch marks and other skin lesions
* Treatment for scar tissue
* Safe when treating darker skin tones

Rosacea & the Broken Skin Barrier: Why We Go Progressive, Not Aggressive.
I was invited by the wonderful and to share my opinion on compromised skin barrier and treatments that can help.
As a plastic surgeon, I see so many patients struggling with persistent redness, flushing, and sensitivity—often signs of rosacea combined with a compromised skin barrier.
Rosacea isn’t “just redness.” It’s an inflammatory condition where the skin becomes reactive, fragile, and easily triggered. When the barrier is damaged, even the gentlest products can feel like too much.
That’s why treatment must be progressive, not aggressive.
🔹 Strengthen the barrier first
🔹 Reduce inflammation
🔹 Introduce active treatments slowly
🔹 Support skin with consistent, calming care
Healthy skin isn’t achieved through harsh, fast fixes—it’s built with patience, precision, and a plan tailored to you.
If you’re dealing with rosacea or chronic sensitivity, a gentle, staged approach can make all the difference.
