I wanted to say a massive thank you for all your lovely messages and check ins after my shoulder surgery ❤️

To update…

Things went really well, however, totally not to plan!

The high grade partial rotator cuff tear I was told was so bad it couldn’t heal by itself and could potentially tear fully if I carried on, turned out to not even exist! WTH!! The scanning equipment can sometimes not be very accurate apparently. The space left from the removal of calcium deposits must have shown up as a tear but they realised it wasn’t when they started to operate.

The surgeon did however shave off some bone and remove inflammation to decompress my shoulder and free up whatever was causing pain.

Despite being a frustrating (I wouldn’t have chosen surgery had I known!) and confusing outcome, the recovery time is way less (3-6months) and I’m already out of my sling and slowly starting physio. What will be will be and it may be the best thing for my shoulder in the long run.

I’m being well looked after and Tiger (the cat) has been great company and a good reminder to take things slow and steady.

As we move from summer to autumn we can feel a little unsettled.

Taking some extra care of ourselves during this time can help to regain balance. Here are some of my favourite Ayurvedic tips:-

- favour warm, cooked and easily digestible foods over raw and cold food

- avoid cold iced drinks and bring in warm herbal teas

- prioritise early nights - lights out by 10pm is ideal

- oil your body daily with warm sesame oil (abhyanga self oil massage is a soothing, grounding practise that is very calming to our nervous system)

- take the intensity out of your workouts and try yoga, walking in nature or tai chi

- spare a few moments each day to be still and breathe deeply

Hello lovely people!

After receiving the news (back in June) that my dodgy shoulder needed an operation to repair it, I was forced to have a little break from work. I gave myself time off social media too which I’ve liked a little too much!!!

Anyway I thought it was about time I gave you all an update on shoulder progress.

I am finally booked in for surgery at the end of October. It will take around 3 months before I’m able to weight bear and then I’ll have to regain strength to be back teaching yoga. No planks and chaturangas for a good while yet unfortunately.

I’m missing seeing all your lovely faces and catching up on your news. Life is keeping me busy with seeing my eldest off to uni, entertaining the kids over summer, general mum life, making sure I’m doing my physio and lots of walking to keep active.

I’ve been quiet on socials this last couple of weeks and I wanted to write a post to update you all on why.

I’ve had a sore shoulder for a looooong while and have been having physio and other treatment. A recent scan showed up a rotator cuff tear which needs some treatment and rest.

Advice has been given to take a break from massage and yoga so with a super frustrated sigh I’m going to listen and take some time to heal.

I have yet to decide whether to have surgery or try with physio so I’m unsure when I’ll be back up and running with treatments and classes.

I will however be putting my energy into Ayurvedic health consultations and Ayurvedic guided cleanse and detox programs should you be interested in these (details on my website).

Here’s to having time to get creative and see where the universe is guiding me this time!!!!

I’ll be teaching you Ayurvedic tips to look after your liver whilst we flow through yoga poses handpicked to clear our Chinese medicine liver meridian pathways.

Unfortunately I am sorry to say I have to cancel my up and coming new Friday Elemental Mandala Flow classes due to a shoulder injury. I’ll know more from next week as to when I will restart this class.

I’ve had a ni**le in my shoulder for years and after a scan last week it has shown a tear. With mandala flow involving lots of down dogs I’m pausing this class whilst I work on healing my shoulder.

My Tues 7-8pm and Weds 9.30-10.30am Ayurvedic yoga classes will still go ahead as planned.

Happy Sunday everyone 🧘

It’s 1st June which means we have officially entered the summer season! (Our weather is a little slow to catch up sometimes 😆 ☀️). Summer is ruled by our pitta dosha which is made up of a lot of fire element and a little water.

As we move through each season, ayurveda recommends that we adjust our diet & lifestyle to adapt to its own particular qualities.

This week’s Ayurvedic yoga class is created with this in mind so expect to learn about the pitta dosha, how it affects our body & mind and how to bring in lovely Ayurvedic and yogic tricks & tools to remain healthy and balanced.
