Westgate Surgery were delighted to welcome the Watson Cubs Burley-in-Wharfedale last week. 🩺

As part of their Our World Challenge Badge, the cubs visited the practice to learn more about healthcare and community services. 🏥🌍

One of the highlights of the evening was a first aid bandaging workshop led by our Paramedic Practitioner Michael Good. 🩹

The session sparked plenty of enthusiasm, with some cubs keen to perfect their technique while others went completely freestyle!

Thank you to the cubs for bringing so much curiosity and energy to the visit 😊

Cases of invasive meningococcal disease (MenB) have been confirmed in Kent. UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is running a targeted MenB vaccination programme only for students living in halls at the University of Kent. This is not a wider public programme at this time.

UKHSA has said the programme may expand as they continue to assess the situation, but no broader rollout has yet been announced.

If you’ve been advised to check your vaccination history (e.g., by a university), you can view your past vaccines via the NHS App under your GP health record.

NOTICE: We are not currently able to offer MenB vaccinations unless national guidance changes - with exception to eligible children who are invited as part of the routine UK immunisation schedule'

We are seeing a rise in measles cases in parts of England.

Vaccination is the most effective way to protect children from serious illness.

We’re encouraging parents to check their children are up to date with their vaccinations. Check your child's red book or speak to their GP practice.

The flu vaccine helps protect against flu, which can be a serious or life-threatening illness. It's offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter to people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu. If you are eligible for an NHS flu vaccine, please contact the surgery to book an appointment.
