Rachel Ewing Yoga

Rachel Ewing Yoga It is also a brilliant therapeutic tool for anyone struggling with health or fitness.

"IF YOU CAN BREATHE, YOU CAN DO YOGA!"

I'm an experienced teacher offering weekly classes and weekend workshops in Kundalini yoga, Dru yoga, Senior yoga and meditation in Otley, Menston and on line. Yogi Bhajan said, “even if you just lean slightly in the right direction, you’ll get some benefit!” and my aim is to make yoga inclusive for men and women of all abilities and fitness levels. Dru yoga's flowing style makes it very accessible - a great form of physical exercise and mental discipline for those who want to increase flexibility, build core strength, destress and relax. Modifications are always offered and students are encouraged to adapt postures to suit their needs :)
Kundalini yoga offers a very different experience working with kriya (sequences of movement), mudra, mantra and meditation to shift energy and expand consciousness (sometimes very fast!)

The Sacral chakra is all about our emotions, our relationships and attachments.
When out of balance our emotions can overwhelm us and we can feel very needy and find it hard to move on or let go.
But when the energy at the Sacral chakra is balanced and open it has the potential for incredible creativity, sensitivity and the ability to flow gracefully with life’s constant change.
Join me at Soma Wellness, Otley for some Sacral chakra balancing Kundalini style TONIGHT at 6.15pm. Drop in / beginners warmly welcome 😊

Diving deep into the chakras this half term starting tonight with the Root!
Your Root chakra connects to the earth element and to your need for survival and security. It’s also the place where we hold many fears and insecurities… repression often going back years (or even decades.)
But the base of the spine is a powerhouse of energy and, when this energy is properly earthed, it helps to keep us grounded and secure.
It’s the source of our courage too – a quality we all need to foster to survive (and help others survive) these challenging times.
Join me tonight, 6.15pm Wednesday 5 Nov at Soma Wellness, Otley for some Kundalini yoga for the Root chakra. Beginners / drop in warmly welcome 😊

One of the sweetest practices, Pigeon breath is so valuable at this time of year for opening the chest and freeing resistance. It's a favourite of mine because of its deeply calming effect so I look forward to sharing it in classes this week!

17/10/2025

Kundalini yoga can be intense at times so I love this calming practice for when the world feels a bit too much and you need to move and breathe more softly and come back to yourself.

This short sequence – including left-nostril breathing, Sufi Grind and a gentle bowing forward – is like an invitation to let go of the ‘doing’ and simply BE.

Breathing through the left nostril activates the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for rest, digestion and deep calm. It’s associated with cooling, feminine, lunar energy.
🌙
Practices like these remind us we don’t have to fix the day. We just have to soften around the edges of it.

The lungs are the organ associated with Autumn and they’re the home of our life force, our prana!

Our lungs are a delicate entry point connecting us to the outside world. So the quality of the environment we live in, as well as our habits, the psychological and physical ‘food’ we take in, all have an effect on our lungs.

Emotionally, the lungs are seen as the place in the body where we hold sadness and unresolved grief. The key word is unresolved. We all experience grief…but our ability to draw in breath / prana / life force and let go of what we no longer need is of paramount importance to keep our lungs healthy.

Join me tonight 6.15pm at Soma wellness, Otley for a Kundalini kriya for the lungs. Drop in and beginners welcome :)
