John and Annabella visited Leighton Rose care home in Leighton Buzzard yesterday. Leighton Rose is a fabulous facility which many of our ex-clients have moved to over the last couple of years. We were shown round by Kelly Cox, their Customer Relationship Manager, who also showed us their new Nursing Dementia Suite.

Lots of ideas to involve our own clients at some of their events - fund raising, visits from barbers who do wet shaves, cinema room!

As outgoing Chair of the Homecare Association I was asked to provide the closing remarks to the recent tech conference which gave us all a flavour of how tech hardware and software can help us as care providers and help our clients over the coming months and years. Care providers have already come a long way since the age of paper based systems only 5 – 10 years ago so we are ready and able to take on the challenges of AI and robots!

John, our CEO,networking with one of the nearby care homes called Leighton Rose. We often find that many client families are in two minds over whether their relative should be receiving home care or going to a care home. We help with signposting so that the family and the client make the right decision that suits them best.

Two of our carers, Michaela and Caz, getting ready for the dementia bus experience. The intention was to disorient them by changing what they feel, see, hear so that they get confused and impatient. If we can help them understand how our clients with dementia feel then hopefully they will be better carers. Carers in Kings Langley and Leighton Buzzard have been on the bus and the bus will be going to our office in Oxford soon.

WE ARE OUTSTANDING!! We are excited to announce that following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in September, the CQC has upgraded the rating of 1st Homecare Solutions Ltd in Leighton Buzzard from good to outstanding – a rating given to just 3% of all home care providers in England!

In its press release, the CQC deputy director for the East of England, Stuart Dunn, commented as follows: “When we inspected 1st Homecare Solutions, we found staff went above and beyond to care for people, treating them with kindness, compassion and empathy to ensure their needs were identified and met.” And he also commented: “Overall, the care people received from1st Homecare Solutions exceeded expectations and both staff and managers should be incredibly proud of the service and the factors that have led to it becoming outstanding.”

The team at Leighton Buzzard were over the moon with their achievement and we congratulate them wholeheartedly!
